Some people think Daniel Jackson is naive. I think they are wrong.
A man who saw his parents died in front of him at the age of 8, whose grandfather abandoned afterward, so he had to grow up in the foster system? Naive?! Nah, Daniel isn't naive. He just doesn't care about keeping the status quo when he doesn't agree with it.
I feel like Daniel, at some point, must have heard the quote "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing" and he decided to do something every time he felt like evil was trying to "triunph", regardless of personal cost to him... and the cost to Jack's sanity.
Like this man ascends! And all around him are powerful beings doing NOTHING when injustice and violence abound, and he goes, "Can't do, sorry, not sorry" (a couple of times :p).
He knows better than most that people can be dark. He just refuses to expect it at every turn.
Daniel Jackson is the embodiment of "Be curious. Not judgmental."
