I wonder what Louis not wanting the book to be published means for S3 and I wonder if Lestat knows that. I wonder if Daniel published all of the fake Loumand romance parts verbatim or if he added his colour commentary that it was Armand's manipulation. I think Lestat will be chewing glass over those parts in particular.

Did he not want the book published? I always took Louis setting Daniel's laptop on fire to be more about cutting off the Talamasca's access to the three of them in the moment, not about destroying the manuscript or Daniel's notes, which were all backed up anyway.

If Louis didn't want the book published, I don't think it would've been? Louis' certainly got the means and power to ensure it never would be, and even without that, he and Daniel are intimate friends by the end of the season, and Louis doesn't seem mad about Daniel's press tour for the book.

But yeah, it'll be interesting to get a sense of what's actually in the book! I really hope we might get a bit of insight into that with the Talamasca series given those behind the scenes pics that leaked of Daniel's book signing. It seems like Rolin had a bit of creative input into that show, so it will be fun to get that while we wait for the full context of IWTV s3!

Jacob said in an interview ‘The burning of the laptop, Louis doesn’t really have a good understanding of how the cloud works,’ so I think Louis meant to destroy the interview recordings but didn’t count on Daniel having a back-up

I always took that to be an offhand joke from Jacob, anon, but even if Louis did burn the laptop to try and stop the book from being written, he would've had ample time to actually stop it. Books take a long time to get published, even when they're under contract (or at least under first right of refusal) which presumably any book by Daniel this late in his career would be. From memory, Louis also has an advanced reader copy of the book too, which I think is pretty telling as to him having been relatively looped into the publication process, which again, would've taken enough time for him to stop it if he wanted. He wouldn't even have to do that as a vampire - he has more money than God - plenty of billionaires have buried publications or sued publishers before.

The fact that it's published at all means at the very least, a part of him wanted it out there.

Louis said ‘there shouldn’t have been a first book,’ I think that means he didn’t do anything to stop Daniel but he didn’t want it to be published either? He sounded resigned

Mm, yeah, but even that I tend to see more as a regret / frustration at the attention it's brought him given it's paired with the other vampires trying to come for him, as opposed to him not having wanted it published.
