The first weekend in May, as part of NYCxDESIGN-New York City's annual celebration of all things design- danielmoyerdesign is installing an interactive drINKing lounge at BKLYN DESIGNS in the Brooklyn Expo Center. For the space, Moyer is creating fifty-three pieces- tables, benchlets, lighting- scattering Sharpie markers about, and inviting visitors to doodle, draw, and design. YES! on the furniture.
Designly temporary tattoo giant TATTLY will be in residence to tattoo drINKers.
Running the course of the event, the ever-developing masterpieces of Art/Furniture will be offered for sale at silent auction to raise funds for Brooklyn's own Sean Casey Animal Rescue.
Already we are leaning heavily on our suppliers and partners for deep discounts on materials and labor.
Now we are offering sponsorships to fill in the materials cost gaps. This is where you come in!
Please consider donating the funds to cover the reduced cost of materials for one of the fifty-three pieces headed for drINK. You will have sponsored the creation of that specific piece. Your logo or name or dedication...whatever you'd like will be imprinted on that specific piece. You will be recognized publicly in online materials and on signage at the actual event and will be an honored guest at the Friday Night Opening Party where free drinks and food and temporary tattoos will be showered down upon you. And you will know that you have helped make something excellent that will support the wonderful work at Sean Casey. If one is not enough, you may sponsor a whole group of pieces.

The Hand & Eye and WorkOf - Featured Makers
All of the designers featured on WorkOf share a common passion for art and creativity in support of the Maker Movement. Our friends at The Hand & Eye, a wonderful blog that features local makers, share the same passion. This week we'd like to highlight some of the WorkOf makers that are also featured on The Hand & Eye: Daniel Moyer, Fort Makers, and Stefan Rurak.
Daniel Moyer comes from East Williamsburg in Brooklyn with a musical background as a trained guitarist as well as a carpenter. He creates unique functional pieces in his studio ranging from seating to tables and even longboards. As The Hand & Eye writes, his work evidently portrays respect and total commitment to craft and quality. It's the work of someone who has mastered the art. The picture below features the prizedobject[dot]platform and 87[dot]table.
Stefan Rurak is an individualistic atelier who works with wood to craft timeless pieces with his favorite being chairs. Their dominantly interactive role in our lives makes him enjoy the challenge of creating high quality chairs that last. His works vary in style and function, but all are genuinely conspicuous as his signs of craftsmanship. One of his chairs in two different colors, the Hephaestus Chair, is featured in our WorkOf apartment shown above.
Established in 2008, Nana Spears, Noah James Spencer, Naomi Clark, and Elizabeth Whitcomb are four artists that met in Fort Greene and came together to form the creative team, Fort Makers. Combining each of their remarkable skill sets and backgrounds in fashion, painting, and woodworking has led them to create an array of products such as scarves, jewelry, textiles, lighting, and of course, furniture. The picture above features their LED line lights in the back, which come in 3 different shapes.
To dive deeper into the stories of each of these skilled makers, visit The Hand & Eye.
