my parents met when they were teenagers

my dad (muslim, arab) fell in love with my mom (white, catholic)

my mom learned about islam through my dad’s mannerisms, his behavior, his conduct, his character

she fell in love with him because he was, to her, the characterization of a “good” person and through falling in love with him, she found and fell in love with islam, too. she took her shahada at 16.

if she had not met my father, or fallen in love with him, she may not have ever found islam.

that’s beautiful. this season, so far, is beautiful, especially to a muslim who was raised in a household where my mom wasn’t considered “muslim enough” by some of my relatives and we weren’t “american enough” to my other relatives. i see myself in amira, i’ve said it a lot.  if you can’t see the beauty in someone learning about islam because of love, idk what to tell ya

sorry but: this clip made me soft. this clip made me happy. this clip was refreshing. 

it started off beautiful with the typical friendly banter. but once the relationship talk started you basically saw amira retract a little. we all know she was expecting the worse. she was conditioned to such. and dani kept looking at her with the literal definition of heart eyes. the speech was stunning because it confirmed that he didn’t start liking her before she became devoted. he pretty much started liking her because of it. her beliefs made her calmer, happier and more herself. and that’s what he fell for. it is beautiful because the media always paints islam as the end for muslim girls. like you will not be desired by anyone ever. especially in a western society. and dani falling for amira feels so beautiful to me. wether or not they are endgame, lets stamp this clip into our brains. dani’s love for amira doesn’t require a change from her side. she isn’t the one that has to adapt to have it. A WOMAN NOT HAVING TO CHANGE FOR A MAN. i have so many feelings over this clip, over the meaning of it. there’s so much to unfold and my heart is too warm but as of now i am happy.
