Herman Vedel (March 1, 1875 - 1948) was a Danish portrait painter who had studied at both the Royal Academy and Zahrtmann’s school. His debut painting at Charlottenborg was picked up by the National Galley (now SMK), and he quickly gained success as a portraitist.
He was inspired by Rembrandt and also worked a lot with chiaroscuro techniques. His best known work is a group portrait of the fathers of the Danish Constitution which hangs in the Danish Parliament, Christiansborg.
