Coffee.
The fight was completely stupid! Dan had gotten mad at you for not getting him the right thing at Starbucks this morning, which resulted in slamming doors and an endless rush of emotions; on your part anyways.
You'd gotten up extra early this morning to surprise Dan with breakfast; even though you two usually cook together in the mornings. Sneaking out of bed, you tiptoed to the bathroom and took a quickened shower. You left your wet hair down putting on minimum makeup and shuffled back to the bedroom. Dressing in a pair of leggings and a hot pink tank top, you slipped on your flats and was out the door on your way to the local coffee shop.
You'd boughten yourself a carmel mocha latte and gotten Dan the same thing; because that's what you thought he liked. After paying for the drinks you left Starbucks and made your way back to yours and Dan's flat.
When you walked back in, you could hear Dan shuffling around in the bedroom; probably for a pair of sweatpants as that's usually what he wore in the morning. You had no clue what he was doing up so early, but you made your way to the kitchen and started to prepare pancakes, and sausage anyways.
Upon pouring the ingredients in the bowl for Delia Smith pancake batter, you felt a pair of long, warm arms wrap around your waist.
"G'morning my beautiful girlfriend." Dan whispered in your ear.
You smiled and turned around, planting a swift kiss on his lips and ruffling his curly hobbit hair.
"I smell coffee!" He grinned.
You smiled sheepishly. "Yeah. I got up early and ran to Starbucks this morning."
Dan grabbed his cup and took a drink as you continued with your pancakes. You turned toward the stove when you saw your boyfriend cringing.
"Why'd you get me this coffee?" He sneered.
"I'm sorry, babe. I thought you liked it." You replied.
"Well I don't. Why do you have to be so stupid sometimes?" His mood had obviously turned from glad to angry. It was probably just because it was early in the morning.
"W-what?" You stuttered.
"Yeah! You mess up all the time! And I hate it. Why do you have to be so stupid sometimes?" He glared.
"Why do you have to be so inconsiderate?" You replied, your voice slowly rising. "Don't you realize that I don't mean to mess up? It's not like I meant to get you the wrong coffee this morning!"
"Whatever! I'm sick of you and your little 'mess ups'!" Dan shouted, throwing his coffee on the ground, splattering everywhere and storming off. You heard muffled cursing in the direction of the bedroom, then a few seconds later the front door slamming shut.
You grumbled to yourself as you shut off the stove and dumped the batter in the trash. You also cleaned up the mess Dan had made. God, he was acting like such a child. It was just coffee.
After disposing of everything, you grabbed your own coffee and curled up on the couch with it. Slowly sipping it, you thought of all the little mess ups you'd had.
**
It was now close to 11 p.m and Dan still wasn't home. You were now laying in bed, shaking. Initially you had been sobbing, but now there were no more tears to cry, so you were just shaking.
It felt like you'd been staring at the ceiling for what seemed like hours; just picking out the imperfections along with yours. It was so quiet in the house you could hear a pin drop. So obviously you heard the front door open and close softly, along with Dan's light footsteps on the hardwood floor of your flat.
Out of your peripheral vision, you could see Dan's silouette leaning against the door frame, lingering there for a few seconds before moving to your side.
Dan silently and swiftly crawled under the comforter (or duvet if you're British) next to you. You stayed put, unmoving just like concrete.
"I know you don't want to talk to me babe, let alone look at me. But please just listen." Dan stated. "I know very goddamn well sorry won't fix it, but you have to believe me when I say I'm so so sorry. What I did to you this morning was absolutely childish and stupid and hurtful. After I calmed down, my heart started aching, longing to have your forgiveness. All I wanted was for you to be wrapped in my arms while we fed each other Delia Smith pancakes and laughed about nothing. But I screwed up, all because I had a mood swing, and now we won't be able to. I completely understand if you want me to leave." His voice went hoarse and tears stung your eyes. "Just say the word and I-I'll go." He whispered, his voice cracking and silent sobbing starting.
You just couldn't take it. Of course Dan was childish and stupid and sometimes inconsiderate, but that's what you loved about him. You just couldn't stand to see him upset and blame himself so harshly.
You turned your body and pressed your lips against his, kissing him with ever ounce of passion you had. Dan was clearly shocked that you'd forgiven him, as it took him a few seconds to kiss back. But he brought his kiss on with full passion as well.
"I love you, Dan. Don't leave." You whispered into his lips.
"I love you too, Y/N." He smiled.
