STAR TREK: THE ORIGINAL SERIES - STAR TREK: THE OFFICIAL FAN CLUB
Star Trek: The Official Fan Club was created by Dan Madsen in 1979 and was active until 2005. They published a magazine, the Star Trek Communicator.
The fan club was also instrumental (along with Paramount Studios) in promoting Gene Roddenberry's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. The fan club asked for a $1 donation from members (the recipient of the star pays a sponsorship fee for it - it's currently at $75,000 in 2025, but back in 1985 when Gene received his star, the fee was substantially less) - to assist Gene.
I mailed my one dollar to the fan club; and a month before the ceremony, received a letter from Paramount Studios, with an invitation to a party at Paramount Studios AFTER the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.
The ceremony was held on Wednesday, September 4, 1985. The crowd (as always) was huge. Susan Oliver (Vina) and Fred B. Phillips were two of the speakers at the ceremony,
Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, Nichelle Nichols, Majel Barrett, Walter Koenig and George Takei were also in attendence.
The party of Paramount Studios last several hours and was fantastic.
Best one dollar I ever spent!
