“Hi.” Shannon greeted the receptionist at the building Danny worked at. She was surprising him just before his shift ended. They’d already planned to go out--but this way they could go straight from work, and she’d get to see if he really was keeping his desk neater ‘than the pigsty he calls his side of the wardrobe’ as his wife so eloquently put it. “Um, I’m looking for Daniel Case? I’m his wife.”
Offering a thank you in return for the directions she received, she peered around the office, watching amusedly as the men and women in front of her focused on the work in front of him. But none of them were her husband. Eventually she spotted him, head bowed as he scribbled something on a post it note. She sped up toward him, trying to remain as quiet as she could. Once there however she perched against his desk, picking up the framed picture of the two of them, and sarcastically remarking “Ugh, disgusting. You photobombed a supermodel?”

As the Cases and the Robinsons sat around the dinner table, having just begun tucking into their Christmas meal, Shannon looked around and smiled as she observed them all chatting, paper party hats from crackers shipped over specially from England (as they weren’t sold in America for some reason) placed precariously on their hands. She couldn’t help but be at peace for how well the family got along, but also wistful for her brother, who had nipped out hours ago to check on his friend Zephaniah, and hadn’t come back yet. Her mum has opted to “not bother saving him food, he knew what time the meal was, merry christmas--have a ham sandwich, Shay” but as she thought of this, the door suddenly opened, and she didn’t have a reason to be worried anymore.
