(Who knows if CMG would let Danny get away with her little fashion show, but Danny would certainly try.)
“Gonna chase this whiskey with patron, I want a girl on my lap with a jagerbomb,” Danny sings under her breath, taking another detour on the street to avoid the crowds loitering on the sidewalk. “God it’s like being in high school again, I need to just start bowling people over.”
“They’re picking today!”
“I still can’t believe you guys applied.”
“I heard the demons are so fine, I want a boyfriend damn it!”
Danny cranes her neck to see around the next little heard and caught sight of a tv screen: Exchange program candidates selected! Who are this years lucky winners?
Ah, right. The transfer program to hell. It feels like almost everyone and their mother applied, but only about a hundred humans are selected. It’s still more than the 10 they choose in the first 3 years, and it’s double from last years selection, but it’s still crazy to think so many people wanted to visit hell. Danny was no exception of course, she had applied out of curiosity. What did she have to lose really? New place, free housing and food, new faces. She’d gotten tipsy to write her essay and it had been little more than flirtatious promises to be an new experience for the program (rather than the other way around). This was basically a lottery and her chances were abysmal so why not have some fun with it? Still, as she pushed forward, she couldn’t help but wonder about the mysterious kingdom. Lost in her own mind, it took her a second too long to notice the dark purple wall that appeared in front of her.
Danny tries to do a quick hockey stop on her skates, but just beyond the portal her wheels caught on cobblestone and sent her flying forward. The crowd parted and she slammed face first into the ground, looking cartoonishly stupid as she scrambles to get back up with her shoes fighting against her. Before she can hit the ground again, an hand grabs around her upper arm and steadies her. Danny looks up to thank her savior and is stunned to see a beautiful woman towering over her. Fair skin with striking dark blue eyes and the hair to match, the girl smiles down at her and the wings in her hair seem to flutter in response. There wasn’t any obvious signs, but Danny’s blood ran cold and she knew exactly who she was facing.
A demon.
“Are you okay? Nothing broken?” If the demon had sensed any fear in Danny, she didn’t mention it. Danny shakes her head and the demon nods, content, dropping Danny’s arm. Danny looks around, skin crawling as she realizes she’s completely surrounded in a tight room and that everyone had seen her face plant stupendously. A few more portals appear and close all around the room, and Danny moves aside to let another student come in, noticing that he was in need of a salon visit- grey hair must be such a bitch to up keep.
“GOOD MORNING TRANSFER CLASS OF 20XX.”
Everyone turns their attention to the front stage where 10 students had taken the stage. Danny had to stop herself from staring at the student to the farthest right- an actual, literal sheep head on a human body. Human? Or another demon? The man at center stage towered over the others, a bright smile contrasting his tan skin. If his voice hadn’t filled the room, his presence certainly could.
“I am Prince Diavolo, and it is my honor to welcome you into the Royal Academy of Diavolo’s year-long exchange program.”
