Matthew 7:7-8: "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; and the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, it will be opened."
As Disciples of Christ, at times we can focus so much on what we have to do to position ourselves to be closer to Christ that we can miss what He wants to do in us. For a lot of us there are still areas in our lives God wants to begin to heal and for whatever reasons we don't allow Him to. The closer we get to God and see Him for who He is, the more we realize how broken and in need of Him we are. On twitter I recently saw a tweet someone put up saying:
"Every person alive needs healing and growth. Life's hardships give us opportunities to see that."
There's no shame in asking God to heal us of the things we hold onto that cause us pain and feeling broken. We need to learn to let go and allow God to heal the areas in our lives that still need healing. To ask God for His healing over an area of our life is in itself, stretching our faith, trusting in Him, and not leaning on our own understanding; it is knowing that God will do as He wills in His timing, not ours.
