Sigh, rewatching born again before Tuesday and I miss the lighting of the og series so much. The darker just suited him more, it’s too bright now 😭

Daredevil Season 1 EP 10 - Nelson Vs Murdock.
Season 3 EP 10 - Karen
S1E10 - Nelson vs. Murdock: "Avocados at Law" starts with Matt & Foggy's college fun their Columbia days flashback captures unscarred optimism with law as a noble fight, bromance as anchor. It's thematic bedrock: friendship as Matt's true vigilantism, before vigilantism fractures it. Foreshadows the Devil's cost on human ties.
S3E10 - Karen: The gutting counterpoint. Her mother's death leaves a void the family never heals; grief festers into desperation. Grief pushes Karen in making bad choices. but it ends in tragedy with Kevin's death and her dad leaving her alone. No triumphs just trauma cycles reframing her as a haunted survivor.
There is something I can’t stop thinking about, and a team up between Moon Knight and Daredevil is one of them, like for real that would be so cool
+ add the Punisher/Frank Castle to it
that reminds me tho about how i used to champion the idea that the first season of daredevil is basically a slytherpuff duo versus another slytherpuff duo.
because why the hell not???
mum’s reactions when Matt being a Catholic comes up amuses me greatly.
neither of us have been Catholic since my First Communion.
she doesn’t seem to like Frank though? she thinks he’s the new villain for season 2. But I can’t really explain it yet because we’re not done cause eventually it’ll show that he’s not the villain he’s an anti-hero who just happens to clash with Daredevil’s ‘kill no one’ thing.
*sigh* why do people have to misinterpret my favourite characters so often.
I’ve called seen a few graphics etc calling Karen Page an “angel” or basically implying she is some paragon of good things. Usually in relation to Frank Castle. (for the sake of a ship, because people have this thing about m/f ships where the guy is super dark, but the girl is his saving light or whatever, which eh, very regularly is a super gross way to think about things)
And are you deliberately ignoring a lot of things that she’s done/been through? There’s that whole line about how she’s definitely not a saint. One of the main reasons she connects to Frank so much is the part of herself that she sees in him. (and yeah if you’re comparing them and the why etc, she definitely comes out being a much better person)
Yeah, I was all prepared to rant a lot but that covers the basics. “too good” characters are hard to be anything other than boring especially if it’s all about saving someone else. Karen is a lot more interesting with the dark side of her and her dynamic with Frank is also more interesting with it. She can still see the good in him without being absolutely perfect.
Why Kastle is better than Karedevil
I SHIPPED KAREDEVIL TOO. It was my OTP and I was so happy Friday night when I watched the first five episodes. I mean FINALLY after one year of waiting they got together and it was really sweet. It was obvious that it wouldn’t last until the end of season though (drama needs to happen right. Every show does this) and I was prepared to get my heart ripped out. But then Elektra happened... I want to point out that Matt CHEATED on Karen with Elektra with that sitting on the couch in underwear thingy. He basically “sense” fucked her while she was eye fucking him, you know? So that really bothered me and I disliked and even lost a little respect for Matt and Elektra (which I failed to shake off that first impression I got from her and was indifferent when she died). Matt continuosly lying to Karen also irritaded me. Karen deserved better. Sure, she kept secrets from him too but she never lied to him. Matt lied about who he was... We also got confirmation that Matt still had strong feelings for Elektra at the end of the season. Kastle had so much chemistry directly from the start and it was INTERESTING. Karedevil is cute but that’s it. Kastle had these intriguing looks and conversations throughout the whole season. They were also honest with each other and we all saw that Karen felt a deep connection with him. Karedevil is like a first love and Kastle a true love (not developed into love, yet, obviously)...
Some thoughts on Daredevil season 2
(note how I said some up there because I’m sure my thoughts will literally never end and I will think of a million more things shortly after I post it)
but anyway I’m mostly over the zombie like state that resulted from the sleep deprivation
I really loved the first 4 episodes, mostly (I think) because if you stopped with 3 minutes left of the fourth episode, it was the perfect miniseries. it was after that everything went to hell.
I definitely loved the Punisher more than I thought I would. his whole family backstory was beautiful and heartbreaking and I’m not above admitting I cried a lil bit.
bless Melvin, the purest cinnamon roll. bless him for Matt’s costume that allowed him to survive BEING SHOT IN THE FUCKING HEAD ahem
the whole Matt losing his hearing thing was fascinating and honestly the most terrifying thing that could happen to him. although I feel like it was supposed to go somewhere, and then didn’t? idk.
okay, Foggy needs to realize his place is arguing his butt off, not pulling the Daredevil shit and going to get information from people, because that doesn’t end well. he is fanfuckingtastic at lawyering though, like, wow.
Elektra is a really interesting character. but the relationship between her and Matt made me REALLY uncomfortable, for reasons I’m still not entirely certain of. the present was better, but the flashbacks were painful for me. idk about anyone else, but I flinched a lot.
I realized around the tenth episode or something that the car Karen got was probably from Ben. ouch. I really liked her whole investigative journalist thing, and think she could definitely show up in JJ, helping her out or something.
Matt and Karen’s relationship was cute and everything, but... idk. it might just be me, but I was completely sold.
damn them for making Stick less of a dick.
umm... the ending? just? WHAT THE FUCK? in general it was good, because it wrapped up a lot of things, and left room for another season, but on the other hand, WHAT ABOUT MATT AND FOGGY? WHAT ABOUT NELSON AND MURDOCK? I AM NOT OKAY WITH THAT.
it was very predictable that Elektra would not remain dead, so we’ll see what happens there
Frank is off with his dog somewhere, hopefully being happy or at least not killing a lot of people, so
Matt told Karen.
I mean.
there’s that.
BUT FOGGY?
I feel like this season there was a lot less Nelson and Murdock time, except for the beginning few episodes, and I miss that. for me, their relationship really is the essence of the show.
bless Claire for yelling at him. bless her. BLESS.
I was surprisingly happy to see Marci and her designer pumps again.
I’m not sure if it’s just because I don’t like change, or if the tone of the show was actually different, or something else entirely that I can’t quite find words for now, but I still think I’m actually a bit disappointed.
but, damn those fight scenes though. DAMN.
there were so many good things, honestly, but overall, I can’t help but be sad for reasons I’m not sure about.
