yES. Like you know how when something bad happens and everything seems to move in slow motion? I think it would be like that for Wolf and then he just jolts, like being struck by lightning, and he is terrified of losing Wes. And so he's protecting him or saving him or by his side or whatever and just like, "you can't die. I need you. I love you." and for that moment at least, it's not Wolf, it's Ben.

ugh I thought of another way this could go too. It could even be that because dark!Wolf is so animalistic that his fear of losing Wes, his Master, is even worse than before. To the point that he's snarling at anyone that even tries to get near Wes when he's injured and he will kill them. And even though that's not really helpful, because Wes needs the medics, it's all he can do with protect protect protect running through his head. It's not until Wes weakly tells him to back off that he does. But he still refuses to leave Wes's side.

And then what if later, when Wes is in a bed in the med bay recovering, Wolf comes in and he very carefully climbs onto the bed and curls up next to Wes (or on him or whatever way won't hurt him) and holding him as tight as he can without hurting him. And he's shaking so bad because of the fear, but maybe the incident also re-awoke something in him. That all consuming love he has for Wes. And if he was scared of that before, he's even more so now and has no idea how to handle it. And maybe Wes says quietly, but sadly, "I love you." And he really doesn't expect an answer back, because he doesn't know how much of Ben is left in there. Wolf can't say it, he barely even talks and saying that would be even harder, but...

But with a shaky hand he writes 'I love you' on Wes's bare arm with his finger.

And it makes Wes tear up because it means that Ben is still in there. The Wolf may have swallowed him, but it didn't destroy him. There's still hope.

Also while I'm in a dark!Wolf kind of mood... He very rarely talks at all. Wes is about the only one he communicates with or talks to and then he's usually trying to get a rise out of Wes so Wes will hurt him. Normally he resorts to snorts, grunts, whines, and shakes or nods of the head. Or he just ignores you altogether.

Dark!Wolf is basically a guard/attack dog who is smart enough to not do more than nip at his master's hand or heels on occasion. He knows better than to "bite" (physically lash out at) his master.

God help anyone who threatens him, his territory, or his master though.

But think of people stepping in to keep Wes safe. People like Ian, Dom, and Shane. Maybe even Konstantin because he knows what Makarov is capable of and he can take the hits Ben would lash out with. Wes would punish himself more than anyone.

First of all, YES. Wes having protection and a support system for dealing with dark!Wolf is the best thing.

Wes punishing himself, even mentally, would frustrate dark!Wolf because that's not what he wants at all. He wants Wes to punish him. And the other thing that Wes, and everyone really, is going to notice is that he listens to Wes. Like instant obedience type of thing. Because the title of Master was transferred from Makarov to Wes when they brought him back. So if he does lash out at someone and Wes says "stop" dark!Wolf stops. The reason he doesn't stop verbally hurting Wes is because he wants, needs, Wes to punish him and control him.

Oddly enough, where Ben used to lash out at Wes and punch him, dark!Wolf would never do that (maybe shove him away, but that's all). His loyalty and obedience to Wes is absolute. He's a dog and Wes is The Master; and you don't bite the hand that feeds you.

Other people are a different story though. And when he lashes out against them it's far, far worse than anything he did before.

So I found that fanmail Mel sent me about dark!Wolf and normal!Reaper. I don't really remember what I sent her that prompted this. Probably something about how frustrated dark!Wolf would be with Wes, because he wants Wes to control him and hurt him and fuck him. And she responded with this...

"oh god but what if dark!wolf needs it from Wes so badly, he tries to make him angry. Tries to find that line beyond which Wes will stop being so gentle, where he’ll let the anger take over and he’ll hold Wolf down like he wants. So he brings up James. “You’re no good for anything, are you? Can’t fuck me right, can’t even hold me down. Can’t fix me like I know you want to. Bet you’re a shit doctor, too. What’s your body count, Reaper? How many people you let die since James?” Finally, he sees something in Wes’s eyes like anger, something he needs to pull out of him. Something that he hopes will fuck and hurt and control him. So he keeps pushing. “Did you even try to save him, or did you just let him lay there ‘cause you weren’t man enough to do something about it?” But it wouldn’t work. Because Wes has that anger, of course he does, but he never, ever aims it at anybody but himself. He might break down crying right there, might even grab Wolf’s arms or wrists just to have something to hold onto while he tries to keep breathing, but he won’t hurt Ben. Because he’s not angry at Ben. He’s angry at the people who took Ben away and hurt him and sent him back like this. All he can do is love Ben more, and start all over again teaching Ben how to love. So he shoves that anger down, pulls at his own hair, spars with Archer and lets himself get hit until Ian realizes what he’s doing and stops. And he cries himself to sleep thinking about the way he used to run his fingers through Ben’s hair, the gentleness of Ben’s hands when he touched him, and the softness of the paintbrush on his skin when Ben first said 'I love you.'"

This hurts SO MUCH. Ugh, I LOVE the idea of Wes lying on top of him, because of how comforting that weight would be. Even if Wolf HATES it, it makes him feel secure, maybe even better than the ropes. lmao basically Wes as a human thundershirt :-p

He would hate it, because even though it makes him feel secure and owned, it also makes him feel wanted and loved. And he just doesn't know how to deal with that. I still don't know how he would deal with that.

It's easier with dark!Weaper because Reaper will own him, keep him on a leash and fuck him until he's raw, and so Wolf doesn't really need to deal with anything. But I still haven't quite figured out how he would be around normal Wes. I don't really have his motivations or mental state figured out. It's almost like being back when I first came up with Wolf. Only he's so much worse. Ben denied caring or loving, but he wanted it. Wanted it bad. But dark!Wolf... I'm just not sure. I guess it would depend on what ways Makarov had twisted and broken him. And I haven't figured that out or settled on anything yet.

Some things getting under dark!Wolf's skin and he starts getting tense and twitchy. When he and Wes get back to their room, he promptly gets out some rope, hands it to Wes, and practically orders Wes to tie him to the bed, clothes or no clothes he doesn't care. Wes won't fuck him like he wants, won't order him around, and won't keep him on a leash; so this is the only thing left that will calm him down and he's sure Wes won't refuse this one.

He's right. Wes ties him to the bed, though not as tightly as he wants, and finally he feels like he's being owned and it calms him. But then the bed dips and Wes lies down next to him or on top of him and just holds him. At first Wolf doesn't know what to do, but then he's snarling "what the fuck are you doing?! Get the fuck off me!" But Wes just hold him and maybe gently strokes his fingers through Wolf's hair. Wolf continues to struggle, "I hate you. I fucking hate you" falling from his mouth.

Despite Wolf's struggles and the venom pouring from his mouth, Wes keeps holding him. And maybe, just maybe, Wolf eventually goes quiet and stops struggling and just lets Wes hold him while he trembles.

Okay so a while ago Mel and I were talking about what would happen in a scenario where instead of Wes being captured, turned dark side, and then rescued that it was Ben and they brought back dark!Wolf to the base and Wes was the one having to deal with that.

Basically it came out that he would be to Wes like he was in the beginning only worse. His twisted mind craves someone dominating him and punishing him and he would say the most cruel things to Wes in an attempt to get Wes to hit him or fuck him hard and just basically hurt him. He'd poke at every sore spot Wes has.

However, Wes is also the only one he would listen to. He views Wes as his master and so when gets into fights or anything, if Wes says stop he stops. The reason he won't stop saying horrible things to Wes even when Wes tells him to, is because he thinks if he pushes enough Wes will punish him. Wes is his master. He has to punish him at some point, right?
