MAINSTREAM VIDEOS THAT FEATURE DARK SKINNED MODELS

It's refreshing to see J. Cole as a new rap artist go against the trend of using primarily only light skinned females to feature as the main love interest/ role in his music videos.

Not to say other artists haven't used dark skinned females before...

As dark skinned model Bria Myles pointed out Artists such as:

Dwele (e.g: Dwele - Find A Way etc..)

T-Pain (e.g: T-Pain - I'm Sprung, T-Pain - Bartender etc..)

Anthony Hamilton (e.g: Anthony Hamilton - Charlene, Anthony Hamilton - Woo etc..)

Wale - (e.g: Wale - Diary etc...)

..are known for using dark skinned females in thier music videos. 

Other times where dark skinned females are seen in videos it's usually that they're playing "the ghetto girl", or the "girl dancing" etc. Whereas Light skin women get the parts of the love interest almost always. 

Of course everyone or at least most people have a preference to what they deem attractive, and if that happens to be light skinned females that's prefectly normal. It only becomes a cause for concern when it's portrayed that almost everyone only sees light skinned females as attractive.

With the lights of J. Cole being a new artist featuring dark skinned females, this alone makes a statement that there is a demand for dark skinned girls in the entertinment industry, it just hasn't been explored by many existing artists maybe because it's easier to ignore your own thoughts and follow everyone else's.

The way our blog fuckyeahdarkgirls! has had so much support on just a sole blogging platform, we have high hopes that the future representation of dark skinned females will be a much more positive one.
