Ruby
Dark Cloud (2000)
Been replaying dark cloud and remembered how much I adored Ruby back when I was a kid
Despite this being one of two favorite characters from Dark Cloud (other being Xiao), I never drew her and don't know why. There was just something about her that drew me to her at a young age. Lineart done traditionally and colored digitally. Ruby is in Dark Cloud.
Dark Cloud: Ruby quick charged attack vs. regular attack vs. charged attack
Ruby in Dark cloud has 3 different types of attack, her basic attack by pressing the attack button, a charged attack by pressing the attack button and letting go when she flashes blue, and a quick charged attack where she performs the windup animation of the full charged attack, but letting go almost immediately after the animation is completed (should be one fluid motion between her charging he attack then letting go). Using a Master Jacket in the Demon Shaft as a test subject, I decided to test the damage difference between all three attacks with the distance being Ruby and the Master Jacket being right next to each other.
Basic Attack damage: 148
Quick Charged damage: 228 (54% damage increase over Basic)
Fully Charged damage: 518 (250% damage increase over Basic) (127% damage increase over Quick Charged)
If you’re fighting an enemy relatively close to you and you cannot fully charge, a quick charge attack will be your best bet, as it is still fairy quick, deals 54% more damage, and does not consume extra WHP unlike the fully charged shot.
