Strange Fellows Brewing Releases Nocturnum Galactica Barrel-Aged Dark IPA

STRANGE FELLOWS BREWING RELEASES NOCTURNUM GALACTICA A unique and complex dark IPA that was barrel-aged with Brettanomyces. The Aroma is slightly candy-like with a rich eucalyptus note and the flavour is reminiscent of chocolate and fig. Also, check out our newest event, Strange Record Swap, on Feb. 23rd!

This unique and complex Dark IPA was barrel aged with Brettanomyces. The Aroma is slightly candy like with a rich eucalyptus note and the flavour is reminiscent of chocolate and fig. This beer first came out as part of our first Fellowship program in 2015. Owing to popular interest we decided to make it again and the result is similar but even more fruity and complex.

Back in Black now this is a great one, a dark IPA not exceedingly hoppy but with enough balance to keep me company straight through the night. It’s actually the second great one in a row from the 21st Amendment brewery, do we start to see a pattern here? I certainly hope so - I have also a can of Bitter American waiting eagerly in the fridge. Like abeerpilgrim wisely said, it’s probably the balance I am used to expect (as European?) in my beer which is fascinating me, Whatever, the guys/gals from 21st really know how to hit my sweet spot. Love you folks, wherever (in SF) you are! *smooch* And even the name damnit couldn’t be chosen any wiser! In my young university times *sniff* me and a few mates just as big fans of AC/DC as I was, planned to have a band and play at least for the beginning some AC/DC covers. D’uh, obviously. The real ground was, hold your breath, getting to chicks! I remember so clearly rehearsing on The Jack… I was the rhythm guitar you know - even though my classical guitar training wasn’t helping enormously but still. It didn’t take long however to understand that there are much easier ways to get ‘em girls, so the whole band thing just fell apart. Daaamn boys, so shallow.

Beer 85: Pyramid Discord Dark IPA

I like this "Dark" IPA. I put quotes around it because I am pretty sure that is not an officially recognized style of beer. It doesn't taste quite like an IPA. It has the same hoppy character as an IPA, but it stands atop a deep malt base. This beer is the Pyramid Spring Seasonal and probably the best Spring Seasonal I have had so far. That probably means nothing, but it is the truth.
