Dark Underarms and Dark Neck
I think this is not discussed enough and not properly.
Dark underarms and dark neck - when the dark patch is velvety, slightly thick skin - it is one of the symptoms of insulin resistance and/or prediabetes.
You cannot just treat dark underarms and neck with acid peels. It is important to treat the root cause.
Insulin resistance happens due to variety of reasons. There are many other symptoms as well. You can be at your ideal weight and still develop this health condition. But overweight people have more chances of developing it.
Get tested for Fasting glucose. Check if you're deficient in vitamin D and B12.
You can also start Berberine supplements. Vitamin D and Magnesium help too.
The thing about vitamin D is - for Caucasian people - they use a lot of sunscreen to protect skin and sunscreen reduces vitamin D synthesis that happens when you're out in the sunlight.
For people of colour - especially bad for people of African ancestry - skin does not synthesize enough vitamin D because of high quantity of melanin present. Brown people have it slightly better than them but still worse than Caucasians.
So no matter your ancestry, you're very likely be deficient in vitamin D. Please get tested and take supplements. Vitamin D, Magnesium and K2 all go together.
Please take care everyone. Vitamin deficiencies are sneaky. Skin care is always inside out. No amount of topical lotions and potions is going to fix issue which has causes inside the body.
