Spiritual Attacks
A Mystic's Path is thwart with perils. One thing is, because a Mystic is so close to their God, they can get a lot of Spirits coming to them, intrigued by them. Some of these Spirits are nice and respectful, while others are not so nice, or respectful. Spirits see something in us, and I do know for a fact, that The Mystic's Path is not for the faint of heart. Buddha was tempted and attacked by something called "Mara". Jesus was tempted and attacked by "Satan". Mystic's have a long history of being tempted and attacked, spiritually, by beings that would fit the role of something malevolent and malicious. While I do not see any Being as enemies, as for me, if you see an enemy, it is in an adversarial mindset, yes there are horrible beings out there, but it is all about the mindset for me, I want to walk in Love, not hate, opposition or fear. For myself, I too, have had such negative, horrible experiences, it does indeed happen to Mystics, a Mystic Path is not just Divine Love, Joy, Happiness and Exaltation by Union with God. It has its down sides, and one of them, is that we are prone to spiritual attacks by beings that could be considered purely malevolent. It does indeed happen, usually, people are safe, but that is because not everyone is a Mystic, and having Unions with God. Even Crowley experienced spiritual attacks by the being called Choronzon when Crowley was trying to cross the abyss while in the desert, which is to say, he was trying to have a "Union with God".
This Choronzon type of being is no joke, this being is not for the faint of heart. It could seriously hurt you and cause peril, if you are not careful. St. Teresa of Avila is a good example of a Mystic who experienced a lot of spiritual attacks from what she deemed to be "Satan". For me, though, I would not call these attacks I have had, from Satan or even, from Lucifer, these attacks were from something entirely else, I would say, it would be similar to Crowley's specific understanding and depiction of Choronzon, for me. Satan and Lucifer have been very respectful and nice, to me, so I would not try to point to Them and say it was Them, it may not be Them for me, but there are indeed malicious and malevolent beings out there, who want nothing but the fall of those who are different, who have close connections to their God/s. These beings, I feel, actually have no names, but can come to you as whatever you feel is a specific malevolent spirit or force in your own belief system.
The general populous does not need to worry about things and beings like this usually, only those who are extremely spiritually in tune, to a HUGE degree, like, all clairs open and active, all senses open and active, and a VERY close and intimate connection and Union to Source/God, needs to be aware about these attacks, especially Stigmatists, need to be careful, those Marked by God. Those actually close to God/s, so close, that they are in Union with their God/s, are ALWAYS the ones that get the worst attacks by, well, what could be classed as "the adversary", and this being is well.. an ancient being who is not just some random negative spirit who happens to find you and wants to cause chaos in your life now... There is a real sense of superiority that seems to come from the term "Chosen One", not that everyone who calls themselves such, is coming from a place of a big ego, however, those people, generally, always talk about the positive sides of this "Chosen One" status, which, this status is usually given to themselves anyway. But, what I have noticed, is that it is all "fluff", love and light stuff.
But, someone who is a "Chosen One" does not ever talk about these spiritual attacks, instead, it is always the up side of being something "special". A Mystic is not special, however, they do have a closeness to God that is unmatched, we can easily communicate, talk to and have experiences with our God/s, in a real intimate and close way, we become One with our God/s, literally, in a Union with Them, Deification, Theosis, Henois, a Mystical Marriage, an Unio Mystica. But, if a literal self proclaimed "Chosen One" does get attacked, it is not an extreme thing, as an attack with these people, usually means it is coming from other people themselves, which is a very subjective statement to say it was a spiritual attack if it is coming from other physical and alive people, or, it is that they can easily handle any Spirit that comes their way. Um... no, not always. Those who are in Union with God, especially Stigmatists, get the worst attacks that are not so easy to get rid of.
There are some beings that cannot be fought so easily, such as, to just think you can pray to God, or cleanse with smoke, or do a banishing and cleansing ritual, and then the malicious spirit will just go away like counting to three. Those who are Mystics, tend to struggle with being overwhelmed a lot by such malevolent spirits, more often than, say, a few times in a lifetime, due to the Mystic's closeness to their God/s. It is not all sunshine, "crowns" and rainbows. It has real consequences and responsibilities, as well as down sides, to being a Mystic or a Saint. Spirits like that I am a clear channel for every spiritual Being, that is my ability, so, some are very respectful, some are not, and do not respect boundaries and just want to cause chaos, suffering and have pure malicious intent. I myself have had a lot of bad experiences with something ancient and pure malevolence, I felt the presence of it, pure malevolence, pure evil, it was, it would indeed be THE adversary, not Satan, not Mara, not Chronozon, not Shaytan, but something FAR more older and malicious than a theistic or atheistic Satanist's version of The Adversary. This being is no joke, and I hate having to say such a being exists, as I never ever wanted to believe that in my whole life, but I have actually experienced things that are pure malevolence, pure evil, something you cannot reason with, and not a mere random negative spirit, so I cannot discount my own experiences, despite wishing I could indeed say such beings do not exist.
Here are just some of St. Teresa of Avila's experiences with such malevolent spirits:
"I was once in an oratory, when Satan, in an abominable shape, appeared on my left hand. I looked at his mouth in particular, because he spoke, and it was horrible. A huge flame seemed to issue out of his body, perfectly bright, without any shadow. He spoke in a fearful way, and said to me that, though I had escaped out of his hands, he would yet lay hold of me again. I was in great terror, made the sign of the cross as well as I could, and then the form vanished--but it reappeared instantly. This occurred twice. I did not know what to do; there was some holy water at hand; I took some, and threw it in the direction of the figure, and then Satan never returned.
On another occasion I was tortured for five hours with such terrible pains, such inward and outward sufferings, that it seemed to me as if I could not bear them. Those who were with me were frightened; they knew not what to do, and I could not help myself. I am in the habit, when these pains and my bodily suffering are most unendurable, to make interior acts as well as I can, imploring our Lord, if it be His will, to give me patience, and then to let me suffer on, even to the end of the world. So, when I found myself suffering so cruelly, I relieved myself by making those acts and resolutions, in order that I might be able to endure the pain. It pleased our Lord to let me understand that it was the work of Satan; for I saw close beside me a most frightful little negro, gnashing his teeth in despair at losing what he attempted to seize. When I saw him, I laughed, and had no fear; for there were some then present who were helpless, and knew of no means whereby so great a pain could be relieved. My body, head, and arms were violently shaken; I could not help myself: but the worst of all was the interior pain, for I could find no ease in any way. Nor did I dare to ask for holy water, lest those who were with me should be afraid, and find out what the matter really was."

I too, have experienced bad "phantom pains" from spiritual attacks, as another of my abilities, is that I can feel Spirits energy, when They touch me, both pleasurable, positive, and harmful, negative. I can FEEL. So, yes, this is one of the many things that can happen with actual Mystics/Saints. The closer you are to God/s, the more this "adversary", can want to try to get to you.
Padre Pio was also a Mystic and a Stigmatist, who experienced severe spiritual attacks:
"When did that struggle begin? Was it a physical struggle or a matter of internal visions?
Amorth: The devil is always pure spirit, but in order to reveal himself he takes on aspects which can be most provocative and harmful: fear, seduction, deception. From his childhood, Padre Pio enjoyed celestial visions, but he also experienced terrible diabolical presences. These tormented him in the most frightful forms. They occasionally scourged him with heavy chains, leaving him bruised and bleeding. Sometimes they appeared as gruesome animals. Many biographies recount Padre Pio's encounters with the demons. Did anyone else see these violent attacks? Amorth: Fortunately, Padre Pio himself described many of his encounters with devils. His accounts for his spiritual director in 1911 in the monastery of Venafro are particularly vivid. That was the first time Padre Pio revealed his rich interior life, both his ecstatic visions and his diabolical torments. Sometimes he spoke freely with the Madonna or the Lord, with no realization that other friars might be nearby or listening.
What did Padre Pio tell his spiritual director? Amorth: The devil would appear to him as an ugly black cat, or in the shape of a truly repugnant animal. The obvious intent was to fill him with terror. Other times demons came as young girls, nude and provocative, performing obscene dances, to test the young priest's chastity. But Padre Pio sensed his greatest danger when the devil tried to deceive him by taking on the form of one of his superiors (his provincial superior or his spiritual director) or in a sacred form (the Lord, the Virgin, or St. Francis)."
The Devil and Padre Pio Padre Pio wrestled with the devil on numerous occasions. An internationally renowned Church exorcist comments.
This may seem so paranoid or something, or totally out there, but I have indeed experienced things like this too, so I know things like this are possible, but things like this are rarely talked about, especially by those who call themselves "Chosen Ones". But, being so close to God, actually means you are a target for spiritual attacks BY SPIRITS, as not every spirit likes that some humans are so close to their own God/s, I feel it is because they see a difference in those who are close to God/s, and they hate God/s, so they try to attack those who are so close to God/s. These attacks can sometimes be accompanied by poltergeist activity, and paranormal activity, as has been the case for me. It is real to me, as I have experienced things that should not be possible, but have happened. Yeah, I have experienced a lot of different things in my life, spiritually speaking. But, what I am trying to get across, is that this is NEVER talked about, only the fluff and the status are talked about, but it is a real thing that happens, as it happens to me, too. Those who call themselves "Chosen Ones", should know this, as if they are actually close to God, they are a Mystic, and that means they could potentially get severely attacked, this is not being paranoid or scared, it is warning and trying to be careful, talking of the aspects of Union with God and a intimate closeness with God, that no one likes to talk of, or even understands about. Then again, those who class themselves as "Chosen Ones", generally do not know of or class themselves as Mystics anyway, but anyway, spiritual attacks happen, OK...
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue
A love letter to my new favourite book of all time
Adeline LaRue, born in the late 1600s, flees an arranged marriage and makes a deal with the darkness in exchange for her soul. She’s freed from her engagement but finds herself cursed, forgotten by all she meets in her newly immortal life. That is until 300 years later, she meets a boy in a bookstore who can remember her name...
What this synopsis doesn't tell you is that “the darkness” is a super hot shadow man who could whatever he wants to me, and the bookshop boy is a compelling, deeply relatable character who is also very hot. (Addie is a goddess as well btw) This love triangle is told on two different timelines, the A plot set in 2014 and the B plot set from the 1710s to the 1980s. Seriously, love it. (also both the main characters are bisexual on screen. Incredible.)
As for the actual writing, it can drag initially and it indulges a little in moments that might not be as important, but the descriptive language is a marinating experience, nothing but vibes and its sooooo good. God, idk how the author did it but i felt everything the characters did. Every smell, every touch, every setting, it was amazing.
And the examination of this kind of immortality was incredible. Addie feels like she's leaving no mark on the world, but she is the subject of multiple historic pieces of art, the influence for dozens of songs and the muse for thousands of artists. Some of these influences are actually illustrated between the sections of the books, formatted as art exhibits complete with descriptions, historical backgrounds and method of production.
This book makes life seem so beautiful. Most stories chalk the value of life up to the people around you, but this story dissects how even the more aesthetic things are worth living for. Art, music, food, theatre, gosh life is so pretty.
I won’t spoil it because you’re going to go read it right now, but the ending had me in tears for the last 50 pages. You guys actually have to read it because I’m going to write fanfiction about it and you’ll need to know what’s going on.
Hop to it.
