What is going on? Everyone's so disappointed in chapter 151? Apparently Hak has a fiance? I'm so confused! And the spoilers are making me edgy! Please give me some insight related to the chapter. You don't have to give all but just enough to calm my frantic mind. Please!
Hak doesn’t have a fiancee, but he did and it’s, predictably, Ayame. Sort of. From what I gather from spoilers, it was something Mundok set up as an arranged marriage when they were kids. However, neither Hak or Ayame take it seriously and Ayame actually has a boyfriend (which is Saki, the guy with the side ponytail she’s always seen with). From the sounds of things, Ayame being Hak’s “fiancee” is just a running joke among the Wind Tribe.
So when they try to convince Hak to come back, naturally the whole “fiancee” thing came up, and Ayame jokingly plays along with it. But Yona, knowing none of this, thinks they’re actually engaged and actually a couple. She’s upset as hell, because hey, finding out the guy ur massively in love with isn’t single and simultaneously finding out that you didn’t know him as well as you thought probably isn’t fun. She leaves before finding out that Ayame is with someone else, and returns to the others, with Hak following soon after.
Basically, people are disappointed because they didn’t really properly talk. Hak asks what the kiss was about, and Yona plays it off as “a greeting”(???), leading Hak to decide to drop whatever it is he wanted to talk about (I theorize that he might have confessed if she had given an indication that she did it because she wanted to, but idk). Yona then asks Hak if he’s planning to leave with the Wind Tribe, and tells him of her intention to release him. Hak’s understandably pretty upset about the implication that she might not want him around, and walks off looking pretty heartbroken. And the chapter ends with that.
so I definitely see where the disappointment is coming from, but at the same time I think it’s a) important for Yona to reflect on Hak’s personal agency in all this, especially since we’re talking about possibly life-threatening situations b) important for Yona and Hak not to fall back into complacency when it comes to progressing their relationship.
