Even death would not separate the twins, not for long. Decades had passed in this new world, a separate dimension without wars or bombs. This was not the life their parents (adoptive or biological) could ever have foreseen for them, but for Pietro, it didn’t matter. He was with Wanda, and she with him. He could protect her and heal the brokenness he’d left behind when he first was pulled down here.

“I got him,” he informed his sister, chest still heaving a little from the chase. No one could outrun him, even though some would try foolishly. The rules were rules, and to keep Wanda safe, he’d keep the rules honored. Only for her. “They hand sentence down tomorrow, said to be ready,” Pietro came to the window to stand alongside her as he spoke, wondering how soon it would be until their world would fall apart. The vampires, werewolves, and witches, they were looking for the fix Wanda could provide if pressed, and it made him worry all the more for her safety.

“Should we do something about them? The schemers?”
