Tayla had heard the rumours, they were spreading quickly through the halls and the classrooms, though it was starting to just become normal conversation at this point. It was hard to ignore, but having Robin and a group of girls stood right behind her as she neatly packed her locker with books, it was getting out of hand. Her and Robin weren’t exactly best friends, they’d never really had much conversation other than when they’d been paired together in classes, but even still. Shutting her locker, Tayla carried herself over to the group, standing beside Robin with raised brows. “How about you take her word for it, and whilst your at it, tell everyone to stop spreading it too?” Her tone was soft, but her eyes sharp as she glared at the girl front and centre of the group, someone she’d grown to know and despise in recent months. “I mean, my brother has taken your word that you’re still a virgin, I don’t suppose your reputation would do so well if he were to find out that’s not the case, now would it?” She kept her calm, the other girls keeping their mouths shut as their so-called ‘leader’ uttered something before turning to storm off.
She kept silent until the group had disappeared and a lot of the students in the hall had walked on towards next class before she turned to Robin, her gaze softening and body relaxing slightly, and a gentle hand came up to touch the others upper arm. “Are you okay?” She asked, kind green eyes searching the girls face. “Everyone will be talking about something else soon enough, but you’re not alone whilst it settles down.”

The sound of someone else’s voice cutting through the vicious laughter was something that Robin wasn’t expecting. During this whole ordeal no one had once cared enough to defend her. Most students were either happy to join in or just ignored her like she was the plague. Hawkins was a small town so of course she knew who Tayla was but not well enough to consider her more than an acquaintance. It seemed like that would be the day it would change. It was comical watching how fast the leader of the group changed her expression. She looked like all the blood had drained from her face and she might pass out. She quickly retreated and took her little band of bullies without another word.
“Wow..,um thanks.” She shifted awkwardly in front of her locker which still had a bright sign with the word ‘lesbian’ scrolled across it hanging off the door. She tore it off and crumpled it in her hand before tossing it angrily on the floor. It was just one of the many signs placed there that week. Robin looked down at the hand on her arm. She wasn’t used to having someone touch her in such a gentle way and didn’t really know how to react. It confused her but she didn’t pull away. “I’m fine. They didn’t do anything to me aside from running their mouths.” She sighed. It was getting old and she was tired of these constant confrontations. “I hope so. It just seems like it never ends. I’m just tired.” She admitted with a look of defeat. “Thank you.” Having another friend would be nice. Someone that was still in school with her and wasn’t afraid to stand up for her. There were only a few more months left of senior year, she felt like it couldn’t come to an end soon enough.
