I’m generally ready to bitch about decks that are too overwhelmingly positive. Life isn’t an unbroken series of wins and ups, so why should a deck meant to represent life be set up that way...? And yet on the flip side, I don’t always mind a deck that’s sort of aggressively dark in tone. Like, the Lovecraft-based Dark Grimoire deck: this is that deck’s Sun card shown here, and The Sun is generally one of the happier and more upbeat cards in a deck. Witness, though, the grim and grubby little mole-people here consigned to their gloomy, cave-dwelling existence, cheering at even little scraps of far-off sunlight... I guess you can wring some positive interpretations out of this scenario, but it might take a bit of work to get there. And yet I still think this deck is cool, despite the buzz-killing imagery. How about you - are you okay with all-bright or all-dark decks...? #tarot #thesun #lovecraft #metaphysical #esoteric #occult #divination #cartomancy #witchcraft #rhodeisland #providence #darkgrimoiretarot (at Rhode Island)
