Arin was bored. These events her father insisted she attend, while an excellent excuse to dress up and hit on women were… a hassle. Honestly, she’d rather be at home working on her book than listening to speeches and talking business with people she had no interest in working with. Really, she was only here to save face, given it would be inexcusable to be in town and not attend, and even that was debatable at the best of times, they’d already all but disowned her once, after all.
Catching sight of a head of pink hair ducking out of sight, Arin excused herself from the conversation she’d barely been keeping up with, and followed. Arin couldn’t help but smirk when she realised who it was. She watched Aurora from afar for a few moments before slipping up behind her.
“I see someone’s been a naughty lass.” Arin teased, relishing in the lilt of her own voice, being back home in Ireland for business really had done her well, as she moved so the pink haired girl could see her. Aurora was a few years younger than herself, but she knew the Moore family well. In the sense that her father knew them and Arin had been introduced years prior and made sure to know each member to some degree. They were a well off Scottish family, the kind of people who had money just because of who they were. The Sheridan’s were less so, but they had an entire business empire and money is money, at the end of the day. Given Arin was to take over her father’s company in time, despite her own protests, it was her responsibility to keep in their good graces. Or something.
“Like the pink, it suits you.” She reached out to twirl a lock briefly around her finger with a smirk. “What have you been up to, besides driving your grandmother insane?”
Aurora’s scrunched nose betrayed the moment it took for her to put a name to the face she encountered once she’d turned toward the source of the voice calling her out, but once she had a name, her face lit up in a wide, genuine smile.
“Arin!” Aurora pulled her in for a quick, one-armed hug--her other keeping her glass of champagne out of the way--before she stood back. She leaned in as Arin toyed with her hair, then gave the older woman a small half-curtsy, half-bounce as she accepted the compliment. ”Thank you.” Aurora waved her free hand to indicate all of Arin, and added, “And you look amazing. Seriously, you need to tell me what your secret is because, wow!”
