It had been driving her crazy all night, or at least since Aurora had caught a glimpse of her through the crowd while being dragged by her friend towards the bar. She’d barely had time for a double-take then before the other woman had disappeared from view and she had to focus on what drink she’d be starting her night off with.
But it kept happening. Every so often, Aurora would turn her head and for just a second she’d catch the other woman out of the corner of her eye. And every time, she’d be gone just as quickly.
And every time, Aurora felt the same tickle of recognition. Not enough to put a name to the face, or even narrow it down to where or when she might have met the other woman before, just the persistent little sensation that she knew her.
Eventually, whatever gods had seen fit to tease her with the other woman’s presence relented and Aurora finally found herself face to face with the brunette. Well, face to back. But that was easily fixed.
“Pardon me,” Aurora said as she moved in front of the other woman, “Do you know me?”
