why do we call darkness deep? is light shallow?

or perhaps just fleeting?

we are but will-o'-wisps flitting, floating, fading.

momentary little beings.

~

in darkness deep, i see you most clearly. my love for you still held, most dearly.

you were my lightning-bug, glowworm, firefly.

~

now a star-dusted memory.

~

i miss you in the deep, deep dark. the night is a lonely, wakeful dream.

~

i miss you here. i miss you there. i miss you everywhere in between.
