So, excuse me while I fly
High up above this broken town
As I look down
On all the people as they say
That they’re always here to help
In my heart I know, that they
Couldn’t catch me if I fell
Only you could take the weight
Of this ancient, wicked spell
Then you’ll have no one to blame
Guess you’ve got no one to blame
Then you’ll have no one to blame
But yourself
Villagers - Courage
I've been awake for so long now Just can't get to sleep You've been tugging at my eyelids You've been dawning on me And there's a light, coming through the window But all I can see Is the light of your love You've been dawning on me
dawning on me by villagers (darling arithmetic, 2015)

“Garton vio a Mellon y a Hagarty contoneándose cogidos de la cintura y soltando risitas como un par de chicas. Al principio pensó que, en verdad, eran dos chicas. #16 - VILLAGERS - “DARLING ARITHMETIC”
less ambitious and less experimental than villagers’ previous two mercury prize nominated albums, “darling arithmetic” offers intimate, subdued, laid-back indie folk that thematically often focuses on singer-songwriter conor o’brien “coming out of the closet”. unlike the albums before, this one is completely a solo record, since every instrument was played and recorded by o’brien himself.

#15 - KAIL BAXLEY - “A LIGHT THAT NEVER DIES”
a genre-bending debut lp by kail baxley. originally from south carolina, the now los angeles-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist effortlessly combines blues, soul, gospel, pop, and rock to create a collection of songs which are all shot through with baxley’s fascinating voice that carries a strong resemblance to ray lamontagne.

#14 - LOWER DENS - “ESCAPE FROM EVIL”
american guitarist, lead vocalist and lower den’s androgynous frontwoman jana hunter and her bandmates have created their most accessible, and, ultimately, best work to date, with groovy new-wave guitar licks, 80′s-sounding synths, confessional lyrics and hunter’s resonant vocals. their overall sound reminds me much of a mix between beach house and wild beasts.
