26. What does your character’s home look like? Personal taste? Clothing? Hair? Appearance?
The Poinsetttes live in the nicest area of Goodneighbor. Although certain sects of society place value in living in pre-war houses, Vladimir did not want the bother with the inevitable hassle and costs that would come with maintaining a historical house (especially considering the fact that most remaining have mild to severe structural damage) and instead bought a spacious post-war house that used to belong to a Goodneighbor club owner. Yves (who previously rented an apartment) moved in with him after they married and the house has slowly become overrun with all 500 of his hair products.
The main floor has the parlor, their offices, the kitchen, dining room, and Vlad’s workroom. The lower level has a place for wine, food storage (that’s where Yves’ hoard of preserved food is kept; he gets very distressed if it ever runs low), and the play room. Upstairs has the guest room, library, a sitting room/bedroom, and the master bedroom. The wood in the house is dark and the paint in most of the house is green. The kitchen is big, gets a lot of light, and has gauzy curtains. The guestroom has white wallpaper with dainty pink and blue flowers. The master bedroom has a dark red and gold brocade type wallpaper. Their bed is exceptionally large (it can fit at least three people in it, which is fine by Yves) and it has approximately one billion pillows because Yves keeps coming home with pillows. There are a lot of plush rugs now because Yves has trouble keeping warm now.
Yves’ taste in clothing is very seasonal:
Spring: dove grey suits, pastel shirts, floral ties, the occasional flower pinned to his suit.
Summer: cream suits, linen suits, seersucker suits, white or light blue shirts, pops of color in his ties or pocket squares.
Autumn: brown suits, tweed suits, tartan, flannel, a lot of orange and red and yellow, gold.
Winter: dark grey and brown suits, jewel tones, a giant fucking fur coat.
Yves is a small, slender, pale ghoul (he is, in fact, bony as hell. The transition to ghouldom was very rough on him and he lost a lot of weight) that’s notable for always being very well dressed. He has long, straight, silver hair that’s yet to fall out, which he normally wears either straight around his face or pulled loosely into a low tail. He is very fond of hats. He has wide, full lips, black sclera, and while he doesn’t have much visible damage, he does basically look like a corpse. His teeth are large and a little crooked, and he has long fingers. He’s lost earlobes and his nostrils and the bottom half of his nose have crumbled away, but he wears fashionable prosthetic noses (often in unusual colors or materials) that cover this. He wears horned-rimmed glasses. Everything from his accent to his word choice to his gestures is carefully crafted and honed, everything practiced, and he can sometimes give off the appearance of being a little off, a little too fake and manufactured. Sometimes his smile is bright and his eyes are terribly, terribly dead.
