A New Nanny || Charming and Mary
@darlingmatriarch
Charming had been motherless for less than a week. He avoided much of the court and their pitying gazes, preferring to sit alone in his room to cry until the tears would no longer come. The King, while he loved his son very much, was not very good at emotional pep talks. He had to govern a country and trying to raise a boy on his own seemed a nearly impossible task for a man who had lost his best friend and greatest support.
He decided that the best thing for Charming was to hire a nanny. The boy was still too young to be alone by himself all day, but was too old to need a wet nurse. The King found the perfect nanny and arranged to have Charming meet her for the first time.
Charming wasn’t sure what to make of the news. He wasn’t looking forward to a “replacement mother.” But he also had to accept that his mother was gone. Perhaps she would be nice. Finally, the day came and Charming was nervous. He stood next to his father as the new nanny was brought into the court. She appeared nice enough, though the ten-year-old Charming still hid behind his father’s leg, waiting to be forced or beckoned further.
