HC-Daryl

Daryl is very fond of physical comfort. He just likes to show his appreciation for people with touching, because sometimes words fail him.

Usually it’s squeezes. A hand on the shoulder, the upper arm, or tangled with someone else’s hand, and a gentle squeeze. In gratitude, in relief, or sometimes just to let them know that he’s there too, and he understands.

For Zev though, he just likes to cuddle in bed and pet his lover’s hair. Kisses are a must have, but he likes running his fingers all over his pretty crow. Because the elf is a precious treasure and marvelous, and deserves to be worshipped and treated well.

HC-Daryl

Sometimes Daryl has a moment where he doesn’t do anything and he remembers that he has less than 30 years to live. He just stops moving and freezes, staring vaguely in front of him and in mild horror as he remembers that he’s Tainted and a Grey Warden and has less than 30 years to live.

Less than 30 years to spend with Zev.

At which point he just hunts down the assassin to hug him for a good long while. And try not to cry as the elf pats him on the back and says “It’ll be okay, Max, it’ll be okay.”

Because it isn’t okay and it never will be.

HC-Daryl

Daryl laughs pretty easily. Cold joke? Laugh. Good joke? Laugh. Excellent joke? Laugh. Any pun? Depending on level of excellence, he would respond with a snort or a full blown fit of laughter complete with wheezing. 

Zevran in most situations where he’s trying to talk/flirt himself out of? Daryl will always laugh quietly before putting on his Warden face and plucking his small elf lover out of the situation.

Let’s never talk of the time where Zevran made such an excellent pun during sex that Daryl had to pull out and laugh for the next 15 minutes before they continued.

HC-Daryl

Regarding Daryl and the topic of sex.

Honestly, he’d been really shy at first, and refused every single offer till he finished puberty and was like, hmm. Okay. Let’s test things out.

His first was another guy and it was just a fumbling mess on his side of things, but the older apprentice had just laughed and taught him how to do it right. Then it just...the ball started rolling and Daryl decided that it wasn’t such a bad thing after all.

Also, oddly enough his Harrowing was delayed quite a bit (Anders stop fucking escaping) by certain events and Daryl was 27 by the time they remembered ‘Oh wait, you’re still an apprentice? Get the fuck over here.’ Which led to quite a bit of experimenting, and he was always more than happy to help the younger ones figure out what they liked. Anyone under 17 squicked him out after he hit 21 though, and he had rules about kinks and shit.

He figured out that he was bi around the age of 22, but always tended to lean towards the male side of things. He loved servicing people, and was more than happy to make his partners happy without reciprocation-though that was nice when it happened. And he was the happiest when people fucked him, instead of the other way round, though it was a pretty rare thing in the Tower.

So he was pretty amused when Alistair asked him if he had licked any lampposts in winter-he used to, when outside exercises were still a thing and he had been really young then. He really meant it when he said “I’ve licked my share of lampposts and then some”, and the look on Alistair’s face was totally worth the painful memory of unsticking his tongue from icy metal and...eh, other not-so-painful memories.

Daryl was also fond of blondes (their hair! Is! So! Pretty!) so when Zevran levered himself up and started flirting with him while still tied up and bloodied he knew he was screwed.

He ended up getting screwed, so it wasn’t so bad in the end.

*CRIES* I beat Origins. . . . Time to start Awakening! P.S. when Alistair asked if I wanted a boon, I honestly panicked. And then, and then he said that he'd start with a statue and I was like...uh...okay...? Honestly, Daryl would save the world and then become a clueless floundering fool unless someone else gave him something to do-aside from killing darkspawn again. I'm pretty sure he'll hate being Warden Commander soon enough.
