Loving the new theme, it looks so good. :) Also, I really wanted to know your thoughts on the episode. I'm conflicted about it, and if I start talking about it on here it'll become a ranty mess... So I just wanted to know what your thoughts on it were, and if you were writing a post up about it. Stay strong! Xx
Thank you :) I felt like going with a simpler theme, so I’m glad you like it! Hmm yes, that episode. I’ll put this under a read-more, and tag it was “spoilers” so if you have xkit, you can blacklist the tag and avoid any spoilery posts of mine.
I actually am writing up on a post on this episode, and on the episode before it, and on other topics. I have so many unfinished posts in my drafts. I don’t think I’ll ever get them finished! But we’ll see.
So, what did I think about it? As an episode, I thought it was okay. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing shirtless Rick Grimes on my screen, and I am certain that I am not alone in that! I liked parts of it; Michonne’s scenes were enjoyable, as they always are. I loved seeing her smile, when she saw Rick without the beard for the first time. That was such a beautiful moment. So sweet. Rick even seemed a little nervous, to me. He seemed coy. It was a precious moment. There was a new level of intimacy between them in this episode — Rick touched Michonne on the shoulder, after their intimate little talk at night, when everyone else was sleeping. Earlier, after she saw him — for the first time — without his beard, he stepped in closer to talk to her, and I enjoyed watching them get up close and personal with each other, even if it was just to discuss the safe-zone.
I couldn’t contain my joy when we found out that they would be officers of sorts together. I see you, AMC. I see what you’re doing with that. Rick and Michonne were already going to spend a lot of time around each other, since they will be living together, I assume, or living right next door to each other (thought I can’t imagine why Michonne would live in a separate house. Even if her relationship with Rick isn’t yet romantic, that doesn’t mean that she can’t live there) so I do think they will be seeing quite a lot of each other. They are family, so they were always going to be around each other a lot. My point is, they are working with each other, so they are going to be spending even more time with each other, away from the rest of the group. And that excites me.
I won’t lie, ok. The introduction of Jessie’s character has shaken me a little. It’s concerning to see this forced interaction already. They have only just met each other, and now she’s everywhere. It’s a little insulting to other characters from Team Family, that are being shoved to the background in favor of introducing new and irrelevant characters. I honestly saw no sparks or chemistry between Rick and Jessie. But, I still have my doubts and my fears. I won’t lie about that. Michonne is my primary concern though. So, as much as I want Richonne to go canon, I would prefer Michonne to be safe, happy and alive. She can be all of those things with Rick, of course. And I believe that she will be. I still have a lot of faith in this ship. I believe that it will become canon, one day. But I do fear that they are going to throw Jessick at us first, to prolong the inevitable. And the inevitable is Richonne. They are a perfect fit for each other, even though they are both far from perfect. They are endgame, there is no doubt about it.
As for the rest of the episode, I could do without it. There were some decent moments, like Glenn punching that new forgettable character in the face. And I’m a sucker for Tara. I loved each moment. I couldn’t help but notice that our Gabriel was missing for most of the episode. Rosita didn’t have any lines, nor did Abraham. Maggie made a cameo. I saw Judith twice, I think. Daryl wasn’t really a prominent part of the episode either, and I have mixed feelings about that. I liked seeing Carl and Rick take down a bunch of Walkers together. I am not overly excited for the Jessie and Pete storyline though.
I worry that the writers are lost, and don’t know what to do now that the group is finally at the ASZ. Most of the characters get a few lines an episode. It’s not what I imagined it would be, sadly. But, I still loved most of it, and I’m still very much addicted.
