A couple of my friends and I hit up 330 Ritch last night for Mindfield Productions Presents: SWAY, a night of underground beats and bass, featuring Starkey, Kastle, Devon Who, and Tony Goods of Dash EXP. 330 Ritch is located just a few blocks and a short walk away from AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants. It wasn’t too crowded, leaving plenty of room to get down. The sound setup was great, I had no complaints on that end. The lighting setup at 330 was great too with all sorts of lights, lasers, strobes, and visualizers. It was fun and we met a few cool people. I look forward to see who Mindfield Productions will feature for the next SWAY. I didn’t have my good camera on me, but I did snap a few on the old iPhone.
We missed the opening sets and only got there in time to catch Kastle’s set, then Starkey to close out the night with the top billed set. They were both great and kept the club going. I am new to Kastle’s music, so I don’t know much about his productions but he played a great set. The name Kastle itself implies a fortress, a personal space that is used to cultivate a long-time love of hip-hop and R&B and fuse it with the magnetizing effect that dubstep, garage and bass-heavy music has had on him as a DJ/Producer.
I am also unfamiliar with Starkey, but was impressed by his choice of music and his style of performing. He was excited to be playing and it showed. He would get on the mic here and there to hype up the crowd. He kept the heavy bass coming. He played some trap style music as well as some more experimental type stuff.
