Man, body positivity is great, but you know what I never see? Posts that support people with acne scars or acne in general.
Has anyone ever noticed they never seem to show up anywhere? In reality, it’s a very normal thing. Yet, anyone with acne or acne scars seems to be cut out of ads, out of tv, out of media, even out of local news shows.
It’s always about hide-your-skin-hide-your-skin-hide-your-skin.
So yeah, people who struggle with acne (and other skin conditions) are beautiful. You don’t need to hide it under makeup or a mask.
So many people don’t realize it isn’t easy to control for everyone. There are people who take over-the-counter medications for acne and still get terrible breakouts. There are people who have it far into adulthood. It’s not just a teenage thing.
It shouldn’t be hidden like it is.
