"Maybe he SHOULD." Vile's voice shouted from a distance. "And what makes you think I still won't? Come here asshole, let me show you what hot plasma tastes like." Did he care X and Zero were right here? Nope. He'd throw down if he had too. He saw a target and wanted to shoot it.

X shook his head and stood between Vile and the stranger.

“Stop it! I won’t allow you to start a fight! No one is shooting anyone as long as I’m still breathing.”

“X is right. Stand down Vile, he may be a pacifist but I’m not. I can and will use force to stop you!”
