“Knock knock!” Fabian called from outside the door. He might have been capable of actual knocking had it only been the pizza box in his hands, but as he was balancing two modestly sized bottles of wine and a bag of cheese bread on top of it, he felt the risk was too great.

“Oh, Antonia!” After the pair of witches had untangled their colliding limbs, Wendy pressed a hand to her rapidly beating heart and laughed. “Holy Ptolemy, you startled me. Or, well, I suppose I started myself, if I wasn’t looking where I was going. Where was I going?” she asked herself, looking back towards the table she had come from, as though it might jog her memory. It didn’t. She turned her gaze on Antonia instead, admiring the way her hair fell so easily, unlike the tangled mop tied atop Wendy’s head.
