Taylor Swift needs to write a song about Tinder
It’s 2015 and love can be found at the click of a button but are we still looking for it in all the wrong places?
Single, cute, successful, healthy and easy to get along. It’s the recipe for the perfect partner. So why are so many of single 20-30 something’s still in the limbo land that is The Single Life.
No doubt if you’re single and reading this you’ve been on Tinder, coz you’ve sat in your room at night thinking, yeah I’d like a boyfriend/girlfriend/casual fling/one night stand, insert reason of choice here.
While I sit here writing this I have typed into the App Store ‘dating apps’ 3207 results have come up to which I ask myself – surely there’s boyfriend potential somewhere in there? But the question that we need answered by other people on these apps is: are you looking for what I’m looking for? It’s a valid question and one that you’d probably like to get answered before you arrange to meet said person.
Emma*, 34 who lives in Brisbane recalls the last few dates she went on with a guy from Tinder, ‘I went out on 3 dates slept with him he said lets go out Friday never heard from him.. Still haven't 3 days later .. Defo figured out he's after one thing.’
Another friend, Jasmine*, 33 from the Gold Coast recalls, ‘ I dated this guy on Tinder for 3 months, slept with him and the next day he failed to answer any of my calls/texts then 2 days later I received a text saying he had reconnected with his ex-girlfriend and they were back together!’
It’s making me feel like Tinder and app dating is now a form of ‘trolling’ trolling innocent girls who are genuinely looking for love and using and abusing the dating system to get sex.
It just keeps happening over and over again, girl meets guy on Tinder, girl dates guy for a few weeks/months sleeps with him and BOOM. He disappears off the face of the earth.
I’ll admit I’ve had an experience in the last 6 months of meeting a guy sleeping with him then getting the cold shoulder. What is it with these guys? Are they ticking off another notch on their belt as they say good night to you and heading back to the dating app for another one as soon as they walk out the door?
Whatever it is as a single girl using these apps is it too much to ask you guys to grow some balls and if you’re just not that into a girl tell them or perhaps just move onto one that you are into before you sleep next to them.
Also I’m pretty sure if you need a one night stand you could find that on your nearest street corner. Leave the good-catch-girls to guys who are worthy. We’re praying you’re still out there…
