Daud Cosplay Walk-Through

A few folks have asked for a build write-up for Daud at this point and more than happy to oblige!

Nearly everything on this apart from the pants and the base boots was patterned and created from scratch. So buckle up because it's gonna be a long one. Let's start where I started:

The Waistcoat

This is made from garment-weight leather that I airbrushed the appropriate colour. The button-holes are leather-bound in the same material (airbrushed a slightly different colour). The lining / back is linen, which went together a lot easier than the leather parts. The buttons (originally bronze-coloured) were painted weathered silver with clear nail polish and two different types of paint. The Jacket

Literally one of the hardest things I've ever made and will get remade at one point because there's lots I want to change. Went to about five iterations of sleeve pattern before I found one that didn't restrict my arm movement and the collar / lapel intersection also took five tries. I deliberately left the bottom a little long because I love the movement of the jackets in @eika-gr's wonderful Whaler art. The trim was also airbrushed before it was cut into strips and sewn on. There's a wire in the collar to help keep its shape. Stoked for Jacket MkII that has more interior structure to help the overall silhouette and general polish. The Gloves

Started with some tight leather roping gloves for the hands and built the gauntlets up from there, using the same base garment leather as the waistcoat. I went the absolute ROUNDS getting the colour right here, eventually said 'fuck it, we ball,' dip-dyed them in a diluted black dye bath and then added a coat of Black Antique Gel and then Medium Brown Antique Gel. Tried to brush some melted beeswax inside the gauntlet part to add rigidity but they just went a bit scrungly.
