DIY Instax Arts & Crafts at Yellow Hauz Cafe
The awesome April of I Am Artisan crafts shop and Yellow Hauz Cafe invited me to an exclusive Instax event at her coffee shop. (photo below from Yellow Hauz’s facebook page)
I was late and everything was underway when I arrived!
I was so frazzled that I even forgot to bring my ipad for taking pics. So it’s a good thing ate Jojie Alcantara took plenty of lovely photos that she so kindly sent to me for use in my blog post. Haha. Thanks, Ate Jie!

Delicious cupcakes. The sugar glazed ones were BOMB.
April is relaunching a product in her cafe called Instax (Photo) Coffee, a really affordable drink where you get 1 coffee drink, + an instax print of your choice! So if you drink coffee a lot, you could end up with a mini instax gallery in no time. :) This is possible because they have an instax printer that you can send photos from your smartphone to, and it will print them out just like a real instax photo, on an instax frame. So cool. I want a printer like it now. Ugh, I want too many photography related things.
It was hard not to just put one of these babies into my pocket and walk away without looking back. HEH.
I was late so everyone was already busy or almost finished with their cards when I arrived!
The point of the activity was to take a photo, print it out as an instax, and then scrapbook style it onto a postcard with various craft items from I Am Artisan’s inventory, like hemp string, washi tape, patterned paper, and in my case, watercolor! I brought my Sakura Koi set with me so I used it. i wasn’t used to painting something so fast in such a short amount of time, lol.
All the instax minis at this event were smartphone photos printed out by the Instax printer via a free downloadable app. It was really cool watching the photos develop! Ate jojie was nice enough to take a photo of me with her amazing wifi-ready camera. I didn’t have any other photo so I just used it for my card. Craft narcissism LOL. SORRY OK
I’m doing this thing where the only makeup I put on is BB Cream and burgundy eyeshadow at the corners of the my eyes, because first of all I’m lazy about face things and second of all makeup that would make anyone else look sick makes me look nice. I’m serious, you guys. I keep getting comments from random people that I’m really white-skinned, but they mean it as a compliment because Pilipinas standards of beautay are weird.
Me casually eating everything
Finished postcards from the participants:
After the everyone was finished it turned out they were going to pick a winning postcard! And I won! Haha. Wasn’t expecting that. There were two winners and @pinkmother of Soul Kitchen was the other one :)
The inside of the goodie bag contained a nice Instax canvas tote, cute paper goods, handmade gift tags, and a consumable gift card from Yellow Hauz.
I had a fun afternoon. It was great meeting all the crafty and crazy people in the city!
What’s your favorite instax DIY? :)
