this is really self indulgent but i really like the idea of reader discovering dave being an octopus for the first time?? (this is really specific so no need to turn this into a fic, i just wanna gush about the idea i had) dave is so in bliss by spending time with the reader and gets so caught up in the moment that he kinda slip ups with his human disguise BIG TIME. dave immediately runs away because he wasnt ready at all for this. reader searches for him despite the shock, finds him starting to have a panic attack from trauma in some corner and spends time with him to make sure that its ok. like, sure, they're shocked (maybe they should've even expected smth weird like this considering the many weird things he does. no normal human eats a fish whole in one go) but its going to be ok. and they gonna make sure he knows that.
anon thank you so much for the good luck and also your fuckin MIND i am so so so here for this omg!!!! that is absolutely adorable, very in-character - and quite Megamind-esque (another character i adore!! :3c). lovesick Dave who begins a relationship with a human (Reader) in his own human guise and who believes he can't be loved unless he continues presenting as Dr Octavius Brine...only for the reader to reassure him that it's HIM they like, not just the aesthetics. as an nb i'm perhaps projecting a trans-positive allegory onto Dave and his comfort in human guise, because i'd love to write Dave finding comfort in his own body AND his human presentation...wherein he learns to love and appreciate all of himself, because he is equal parts brilliant and beautiful, and Reader is going to make sure he knows it. godddd now i want to write this 🥺🥺🥺
