so i read skellig a year ago, was forever changed, and my mom sent me a photo of me as a baby out of the blue on the same day
He stepped sideways and we turned together, kept slowly turning, as if we were carefully, nervously beginning to dance.
Why does NO ONE talk about My Name Is Mina??? It's so good, and Mina is so autistic coded, and I love her so so so so much and then you read Skellig (which is also amazing) and NOBODY talks about them????? Kill me
what it feels like to let go of a friend

"...The mind too, becomes inflexible. It stops thinking and imagining. It becomes hard as bone. It is no longer a mind. It is a lump of bone wrapped in a wall of stone. This process is ossification."

Summer Studying Challenge!
4th July - today was less studying and more going off to have fun. I got to celebrate my birthday with my dad. We went to a climbing place with lots of fun walls! I had just a great time.
Meanwhile, I've been trying to set aside time to read for fun, and write, and remember why I fell in love with words in the first place. This is an excerpt from Bone Music, by David Almond - and yes, I do highlight even my fun books. I like to mark the parts I love as I read them, so I can remember when I came back to them what I was drawn to the first time.
---
What is the most important task that you need to complete this summer? I probably need to get a decent plan sorted of my first thesis chapter, as well as translating a good chunk of the poem itself. Fingers crossed I can get it done!
“In Tibet, people believe that the soul breaks free of the body at night, and has journeys that are remembered as dreams. This is known as astral traveling. Astral traveling! Imagine flying through the night with the bats and the owls, looking down at the house, the street, the city, the world!
They also believe that the whole of the universe hatched from a single egg. This makes total sense to me. Why shouldn’t the universe have hatched from one of the most astonishing weird magical objects in the universe? An egg. A single egg! And if that is somehow true, then the whole universe is like a bird, flying through time.
And each time it lays an egg itself, a whole new universe is created. And so there is universe after universe- a flock of universes flying through time.”
