David Girling, lecturer and Director of Research Communication in the School of International Development, University of East Anglia will on Thursday be discussing about Social media for mobilising, fundraising and development at Pawa Hub from 6.30pm.
His recent blog post on social media for development was focused on his finding in Kenya.
The hashtag that trended last week #BabaWhileYouWereAway was a highlight moment that was trending in social media in Kenya. David adds that it was humorous and that, "Twitter is gaining a reputation for opening channels of political discourse across the world, but from my two days in Kenya, I am convinced that Twitter is only accessible to the middle classes and elites here due to affordability."
Looking forward to the discussion on 5th June at PAWA254 from 6.30pm, where David Girling and Mark Kaigwa will examine global case studies and apply local and regional insights to internalise lessons for the region.
