David Vanzo Took His Dead Mother To Bank To Take Cash From Her Account
PLYMOUTH, MN – Police say David Vanzo took his dead mother on a taxi ride to the bank so he could withdraw cash from her bank account.
David Vanzo took his 90-year-old mother, Caryl Vanzo, to the bank to take $850 out of her account for himself. Seven hours later he called police to report her death. When police arrived they were overwhelmed by the stench of urine and feces. Caryl Vanzo’s body was found in her bed, wearing a robe with a fur coat over it. She was also wearing boots that were covered in shit.
Bank employees reported that the visit to the bank by Vanzo and his mother was unsettling. Employees could not tell if the woman was breathing and noticed that when she was pushed in her wheelchair her feet dragged on the floor under her chair.
It was also noted that she did not make single move during the entire transaction. A neighbor who saw the pair leaving in the taxi also thinks there’s a good possibility the woman was dead before they left the house. “I don’t know if she was unconscious, or not alive,” the neighbor says.
Detectives are now trying to determine if Caryl Vanzo took his mother’s corpse to the bank. Vanzo denies the allegation, “I love my mother very much. I gave my life to keep my mother alive. Look at my eyes.”
Records show that David Vanzo was investigated for financial exploitation of his mother on a few occasions. There was a reverse mortgage his mother couldn’t explain to the tune of $118,000, cash withdrawals of $47,500, and another for $25,600.
This was not the first time David’s ability to care for his mother has been investigated. The Plymouth police chief confirms Hennepin County Adult Protection Services made an in-home visit in 2012. Caryl was found to be of sound mind and body. Caryl Vanco was left in her son’s care at her request.
Plymouth Police have arrested David for elderly neglect and he is currently being investigated for financial exploitation of his mother. “My mother, she wouldn’t eat in the end,” David says.
I can only assumed that if she wasn’t eating, she wasn’t signing checks either. Nothing a little taxi ride and some marionette strings can’t fix.
