Headcanon ~ David's accent
In his early life, David had an amalgamation of an English accent like his mother's, and an American like his father's (and a large proportion of the crew).
When they returned to Earth after their five year mission (the first time David had ever set foot on Earth) the Kirks lived in America for three more years, and then moved to England when David was seven.
David developed a thick English accent while in England, and its one he never shook when he moved back to America and studied at Starfleet. He does however have a hint of Americanisms, but for the most part he's very English.
