Beneath The Stars
Your eyes sparkled like gems in the sky. They pulled me in, consumed me whole, like the warmth of your hands — your breath, your lips. I understood, now, that I will always need you. And, without you, it would be too painful. So I will cherish every feature — every touch, every kiss. For I fear one day that I will lose you among the stars.
Three months have passed and I still think how Hell has a good ruler and Heaven has a new better God and it’s all because of Sam Winchester. I’ve been watching this show since day one and I never thought Heaven and Hell will turn out this way.
You know me and you love me
Summary: He never thought that he would have a love like this one. So all encompassing and filled with passion, trust, loyalty, honesty, and just plain old unconditional love - a concept David hasn’t really ever known.

Jack in the Box episode thoughts
Okay look, Jack is one of my favorite new characters on the show and I love what he brings to Sam and Dean’s storylines, especially bringing out the big brother and then fatherly side of Sam. You know there’s a “but” coming up.
In the latest episode Jack killed and tortured people and don’t tell me he doesn’t know right from wrong *me side eyeing Cas* or that he’s only two years old. I repeat, he killed and tortured innocent people. So yeah, I’m completely on Sam and Dean’s side for containing Jack before he kills, torture, and kidnaps more innocent people.
Castiel: “After knowing this, you still want to keep Jack in the box?”
Me: Uh, didn’t you just see Jack turning bunch of people whom he kidnapped into angels against their will?
Duma manipulated Jack but he still knows right from wrong even if he doesn’t have a soul. So I don’t get where Cas is coming from but he’s always been more of a plot device to cause problems than a consistent character so I write him off as the former.
Who I do get is Sam and Dean, especially Dean. Sam, Sam, Sam, always trying to find the positive like in the beginning when he talked about Mary being in heaven with their dad. Dean is not falling for it because by Sam’s logic, then why save people from monsters if the victims will be going to heaven? But I also get where Sam is coming from too, they can’t bring Mary back so he’s trying to take comfort in the knowledge that they know heaven exist whereas mere mortals like the rest of us can only rely on hope and faith that there is a heaven.
Traditionally Dean is the more emotional brother who makes rash decisions while Sam tends to be more rational and empathetic while trying to look at the bigger picture, hence taking on the leadership role for the past two or so seasons. But not this time because for Sam, Jack is his son and he’s an emotional mess but still follows Dean’s pragmatic plan.
The only way Jack can come back from this realizing that what he did was wrong, wrong, wrong and promise never to do it again while healing the preacher of worms and return the kidnapped people back to their lives. The synopsis for the finale is Jack “becomes disenchanted with all the lies” so maybe he wise up and make amends.
Unpopular opinion (for some):
Nick’s story made sense and was relevant.
For all the bizarre plots, retcons, and storylines that went nowhere, I can’t quit Supernatural because of the great chemistry between Sam and Dean. Both actors have provided depths to their characters. But most of all I can’t stop watching because I need to see Sam Winchester and his story.
Sam is a bit of a spartan character but Jared Padalecki has layered him with individuality, hope, insecurity, humility, anger, desperation, faith, endurance, tenacity, innocence, morality, heroism, and a level of optimism that I have yet to see anywhere else. Even as Sam seems to be the show’s resident emotional punching bag, he still looks for the best in everyone and wants to help anyone who needs it. He wants to save everyone because people are worth saving.
I believe most of the credit goes to Jared for the appeal and popularity of Sam Winchester in spite the sparse dialogue awarded to him in comparison to other characters. Sam is not the archetype bad boy with heart of gold that is designed to be automatic fan favorites. He usually doesn’t have snarky or funny lines or even the story’s pov, and yet he still fire the imagination of so many people, and inspire many more.
I have no doubt that Jared deserves all the credit for making Sam Winchester a great character and always giving us Sam Winchester no matter how often the writers break him.
Why do people, in universe and in fandom, keep talking about Sam and Lucifer like they're anything alike at the core? You can't tell me that Lucifer would ever give someone a hug for no reason, and you can't tell me that Sam wouldn't.
The only time I remember in unverse of that talk was when cowardly Michael was trying to browbeat Dean into accepting the vessel hood by comparing their birth order, meaning the second born sons are always going to be rebellious disappointments. Didn’t the show recently throw the birth order canon out the window? Meanwhile Michael is turned into a drooling loser suck somewhere in Hell and he’s all but forgottened except by the hardest of the hardcores fans (mostly bitter extreme Dean girls).
In the fandom I’ve only come across that talk among rare Samfier shippers and hardcore extreme Dean girls, both in the fringe minority. So anon, I don’t know what “keep talking” you’re referring to unless it’s the same few people repeatedly talking about it, which I recommend you stop following them. If I’m wrong about the statistics and I’ll gladly review your receipts. Come off anon and we’ll talk privately.
Sam Winchester is Courageous
There are many examples of bravery in our society, but there are fewer examples of courage because bravery requires the repression of fear, but it takes courage to explore the fear you had to repress in order to be brave. Therefore courage is a more valuable characteristic to have
Sam is incredibly brave and courageous. His flashback to Hell scared him so much that he froze and was unable to speak, but he was still able to act with courage because he acted against his fears when his brother needed him. Sam dealt with hallucination of Lucifer and Hell for months while staying by his brother’s side, hunting and saving lives. The very instant a powerful angel took his hallucinations completely shattered the angel and rendered him comatose. To be brave, you must have courage; Sam has both.
Acts of bravery don’t always require critical judgment because the qualities are inherent due to what family and societal values and therefore effortlessly manifests second to human nature. A brave person can eat a disgusting item when told to, that is without putting much thought on reasons and consequences of his action. It’s why bravery is sometimes confused with stupidity. In contrast, a courageous person truly understands what he’s getting in to and whom or what he’s doing it for. Sam knew he will suffer eternal pain if he confronts Lucifer and it scares him, but he proceeds for the love of his brother.
Winston Churchill said “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” Sam continues to live, to fight, to save lives. In the book of Isaiah, courage is one of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit. A person with courage is willing to stand up for what is right, even if it means accepting rejection, verbal abuse, or physical harm. Wow, that is Sam Winchester all the way. Unlike in the case of bravery, a person fueled by courage may feel inevitably small in the face of peril, pain or problems. The essence of courage is not the feeling of being certainly capable of overcoming what’s one is faced with, but rather is the willful choice to fight regardless of the consequences.
C.S Lewis wrote that courage is not simply one of the virtues, but the form of every virtue at the testing point. That is Sam Winchester all the way. Sam has been tested at every single point of his life and time and time gain he demonstrated mental and moral strength to venture, persevere and withstand danger, fear or difficulty.
