I don't usually share headcanons with broader fandom spaces but I will share this one (1) headcanon I've been holding onto for a while: When Michael was younger, he was obsessed with Arthurian legends and knights since he resonated more with the honorable, brave and protective men in those stories more than his abusive father. when Sam was born, he vowed to protect Sam like the knights in his stories. No matter what form the threat took

He just never expected the threat he vowed to protect Sam from when he was little would be himself...

Michael is mostly back to normal. Mostly. He's definitely human again. There's just some lingering pieces that refused to vanish when he returned to the land of the living. The reminder of what happened will linger for the rest of his life. (Michael still has fangs).

This would work for post-canon of either the musical or the movie. Musical Michael would be a bit more destroyed by this. Movie Michael would be a bit more sullen. I tried to balance them both.
