The cover system in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle denotes either full cover (0% chance to hit), half cover (50% chance to hit), or no cover (100% chance to hit). By simplifying cover to this degree, the game is able to allow very bizarre tactics to come forward, such as throwing fellow party members to more effective locations, or sliding into cover while taking out an enemy at the same time.
Davide Soliani, Creative Director/Developer at Ubisoft sheds tears of joy when Shigeru Miyamoto introduced the Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle trailer at E3
Some wholesome content for you.

@fearlessdevil17 Now that Soliani gave us his answers...I am still baffled by that choice, since Darkmess is still around even if we beat Cursa. I think there was some last minute decision making or they completely forgot about that, because neither the mystery of the broken statue makes sense or Jeanie saying that Darkmess still lingers throughout the Galaxy.
I hope Ubisoft will update Sparks of Hope in the future and retcon that, after all the game was meant for the next gen consoles and I can see why now, the game needed more time in development for it to really polish everything.
The product was still good and the DLC Bwaamazing, but they clearly should have spend more time on it, time they might get once the new console comes out and gets updated.
