i finally finished watching stone ocean and even though i know there's not much i can add to the conversation i still need to scream about it. araki is peerless, davidproduction are saints, and jojo's bizarre adventure is my favorite anime of all time. i wasn't expecting to feel such complex emotions – emotions that were not only fueled by the incredible ending but also by the extratextual details in its adaptation. jojo isn't just a story; it's a generational epic, both within its universe and in our own. the part 6 anime makes us feel this with all the weight of the world and even though it's overwhelming it is also comforting, deriving subtleness from maximalism in a way that were you not witnessing it would seem impossible. it is poetic –which is to say brutal– and now i'll have to live with it.
