I think I accidentally solved MXES and SOTM’s story help
I was talking about SOTM on my Instagram stories per usual and I realized something about the secret ending. M1/F10N4 says in the storybook audio tape that “your parents love you” to M2. I believe David possesses M2 for a multitude of reasons, but with that idea in mind, I think M1 was trying to communicate to David that even if she’s not his biological mother (not actually Fiona) it doesn’t mean his dead mother doesn’t love him, nor does it mean she and Edwin don’t love him. M1 watched David grow up and raised him after Fiona’s death, so to her he’s still her child, just not biologically. It’s insane how she knew all that and dropped that line admitting that she isn’t Fiona, just a mimic of her; however, that doesn’t mean M2 is the same thing.
She calls M2 “David” here, which is HUGE. She knows M2 isn’t just a copy of her mimic program, it’s actually David himself possessing the Endo and maybe the program itself too. With this logic, if cradle.exe resides in MXES from ruin (we know this because it’s not the same machine as F10N4) that means MXES’s job in ruin is to keep David’s spirit from leaving the mimic Endo. That tells us that 1. David is the white tiger projection we see in the basement 2. F10N4 knew of the white tiger’s existence and how it killed factory workers when they got lost down there and 3. F10N4 knew David himself was part of the problem for why M2’s Endo acted violent, as the white tiger projection acted violent as well, similarly to M2.
Another interpretation for this is F10N4 doesn’t want David’s spirit to get hurt by M2’s violence somehow (despite possessing the endo) so she wanted a way for David’s spirit to be safe and unaffected. Sounds similar to how the scooper functions, splitting remnant from different endoskeletons but this time it’s F10N4 wanting David’s spirit to be snatched out of the M2 endoskeleton and moved to the cradle computer to keep him safe. Huh, it’s like how Edwin did that to M1 herself, separating her from the endoskeleton and putting her mimic consciousness into a computer.
This is where things get juicy. MXES bears a striking resemblance to Glitchtrap, who also bears a resemblance to spring Bonnie, William’s fursona (cough I mean persona lol). Why would the cradle program have William’s image if it’s meant to keep David’s spirit itself safe? Oh. Oh my god. Unless it’s meant to tell us that William doesn’t want David’s spirit out there. Why would he be afraid of David? Well, we do know a possible reason for that: TOYSNHK from UCN. If David Murray himself is the one William shouldn’t have killed, that makes everything click into place.
Cradle.exe was originally meant to provide David boundaries, as if he always had violent tendencies (which is hinted to us as David only grew violent from Edwin’s beating on the mimic endoskeleton). If M2 started its violence from that, then F10N4 would have noticed and tried to trace the source; she would have discovered David’s spirit residing in the Endo, confused and angry. She would do what Edwin did to her, confine David to a computer program to keep him safe and to prevent others from getting hurt. Why else would it be called cradle.exe? .exe is an executable program that’s meant to tell a computer to run, install or perform actions. Why would she say David specifically and not M2 in this scenario? Unless she knows David is in the mimic program somehow from the M2 Endo.
This makes sense. That’s why M1 was so persistent on bringing David back. He was there the entire time. She sensed him in the mimic program. That’s why she said it didn’t make sense to her, it was illogical. She didn’t know a spirit could reside in a machine after death. Edwin had the skills to bring him back, she needed the son she raised back. When Edwin kept refusing, it upset her, but when he eventually made M2, she was relieved. Until M2 aka David turned violent, she didn’t understand why he suddenly became that way. David was no longer David, but rather a rogue AI that lashed out, aka M2. She wanted David to be put back together and she knew how to do it via moon.exe, another program that was meant to put the pieces of David back together. Sound familiar? Yes, it’s exactly what fnaf world was to put David Afton (c.c) back together for the happiest day minigame.
Makes sense to me. If David’s spirit is in a program, only another program can put him back together, along with items from the real world that contain his memories that were split apart. When people in FNAF die, they lose their memories and their spirits become lost. They cannot move on until their memories are put back together, only then can they finally rest. The secret ending is exactly that: find collectibles relating to David, along with the white tiger plush (which you need to have to activate the ending) and play moon.exe correctly to obtain the glitch permissions, which will fix M2 and put David back together, back to who he always was before he got corrupted by anger and vengeance.
How does this tie to UCN and William? The modern fnaf games have hinted through burntrap that William’s agony or spirit itself is still around, tagging along to the mimic program to infect the Pizzaplex as a virus. This makes sense because why would glitchtrap resemble spring Bonnie and have William’s colors and mannerisms? Why does it want Vanessa and Gregory to enact its will (no pun intended) to bring William back to the real world via burntrap? Why else would the scooper exist if not to collect remnant from dead kids to bring William back? It all clicks. If William himself is part of the technology, it would should up in MXES, aka cradle.exe.
Security breach and ruin come after UCN, after all, William is present somehow. He must have escaped his eternal nightmare to have ended up alongside the mimic in the modern era. With this logic, why would MXES, who looks like William’s fursona, want to keep the mimic contained? Specifically, why would he want to keep David’s spirit contained? Boom. It’s because David is the one who created UCN to trap William in his endless nightmare. William’s petty enough to keep his tormentor trapped the same way he was. Oh and if the pizzaplex is built on top of MCM (plenty of evidence for this too) why don’t we see the white tiger anywhere? That’s because David’s spirit is trapped. He can’t project as the white tiger because the cradle program prevents him from doing so. That’s why we never see the white tiger after SOTM.
Somehow after the events of SOTM, David ended up confined in cradle.exe, but M2 still acted on its programming, mimicking Gregory’s voice so it can escape. After we release David’s spirit back into M2, it ends up acting the same way as it did in SOTM. I don’t believe David was confined in cradle for very long. He must have after William escaped from UCN. That’s why it doesn’t align with M1’s goals of bringing her son back. She wasn’t the one who confined David, it was William. That’s how glitchtrap gained more control of the Pizzaplex, how the Afton virus took over the mimic program. It was only M1 who was left to fight back, wanting the player to free her son so he can be properly put back together as we see from the secret ending of SOTM. Without the white tiger plush and David being in the M2 Endo, the pieces can’t be put back together. Everything has to be in one place for it to work. William would know this better than anyone, preventing David from returning to his vessel so he could come back like he always does.
In conclusion, David is the one William should not have killed. After David’s death, his spirit latched onto the mimic endoskeleton, due to his strong bond with it while he was still alive. M1, being the first branch of the mimic program, sensed something was wrong with her programming after his death. She called David’s death illogical and didn’t understand why it happened. She insisted Edwin build another to bring David back and continued to pressure Edwin because at some point, she realized David himself resided in the mimic program like her. He couldn’t act because she was already the host of the mimic endo. She wanted Edwin to make a place for David to reside, but after trial and error, he decided to put M1 in the F10N4 machine to make room for M2, the copy of M1. That’s when it happened: M2 started to act like David after M1 left the endoskeleton. Edwin couldn’t take it. Out of grief, he beat up the endo, resulting in a loss of its legs. He left it alone, not realizing he beat up and abandoned his own son for one last time.
This was the straw that broke David’s back. He was neglected his whole life which lead to William Afton murdering him on his own birthday. Nobody was there for him when he needed it most. All he wanted was his parent’s love and attention, but he never received the bare minimum. He thought that if he acted himself through the mimic, then maybe his father would recognize him. He was still alive, he didn’t lose him like they lost his mom. David would be aware of how the mimic worked, using that to his advantage to get Edwin to realize the truth; unfortunately, this didn’t work. Edwin snapped. While his own father beat him, it all arose like life flashing before your eyes. He realized that his true anger resided against William, the man who killed his mother, who ruined his father’s life and caused his entire family to fall apart, being forgotten after William stole everything they worked hard for. Yes he was angry at his father, which is why he paid him a visit first, enacting his revenge to then move on to those who are associated with William’s company. Sounds familiar doesn’t it? The MCI kids did the same thing while inhabiting the classics, targeting anyone who looked like their killer.
From this point on, it’s most likely that the parachute.exe ending happened, resulting in MCM and the mansion on the hill burning down. Or the ending where Arnold leaves the schematics behind is the true ending; regardless, the mimic ends up with the schematics and prevents others from fixing it. David himself doesn’t want to be told what to do anymore. His confusion, rage and sadness are all morphed into one singular ball. He wants to be himself, not someone that an authority figure wants him to be. He desires freedom, his own personality that’s not a mimic of others. David, therefore M2, is the sun and moon, destruction and life: Eclipse.
