Hi! I've been a fan since you started writing 19 days fics! I finished reading SITB a few weeks ago. One of my fave part in SITB was when MGS sang his heart out and it caught the boys off guard especially HT, kinda reminds me of one of the songs used in their radio drama that was sang by the voice actor of MGS himself, can't help but imagine that it was that song when MGS sang (see my blog for deets). [2/2] Hi. It’s me again. Sorry if you’ve been asked about this a lot but just wondering about the status of Dawn Rising. I’m not really a historical lit person but before I knew it, I was reading the whole thing until morning. Is it still WIP or has it been dropped? Please don’t, no matter how long it takes for you to finish it, take your time, I’ll wait ‘coz it’s really good! Also, about it being OOC, if it is, well it’s not the cringey kind of OOC, I must say. Thank you for your message! I’m so glad you enjoyed swimming in the blood – I’ve been heavily considering writing a side-piece for the fic that revolves around He Cheng and Qui Feng, so I’ll be posting details on my blog if that comes to light. :’) 

I hadn’t heard anything about that radio drama, but that’s so cool! I just found it on your blog. (I admit the non-con and omegaverse is not something I’m interested in as a fan-creator/consumer, but a fan-made radio drama is a really neat idea.)

RE: Dawn Rising. I have no idea, honestly. I have no current plans to revisit it. I was talking with my boyfriend about this a couple of days ago, and he asked me if I’d be willing to completely re-work it now I have the benefit of hindsight and a better handle on the characters, and I said no. I stopped writing Dawn Rising because my interest in 19 Days as a whole was waning, and when I came back to the fandom, I wanted to be writing new things that challenged me in new ways. 

Similar to what the article I posted yesterday was talking about, fanfiction can be used a sandpit for creative development and improvement of writing skills. That’s largely what it is for me, and so while re-working Dawn Rising might be beneficial from an editing/re-hauling POV, I also want to keep moving forward? 

RE: your point about the characters not being “cringey OOC”: for me that’s not super important – it’s more about how I feel about writing it and how I feel I’m writing the characters. I wouldn’t think “this is okay to put in because the readers won’t mind”; it’s more “I mind so I’m not doing this”. It’s important not to write for other people (or to act on the instincts of readers).

I’m not in the best financial position right now either, so commissions are more important for me to work on from a practical/realistic perspective. It’s pretty blunt of me to say, but while I love and have always written fanfiction for pure enjoyment and no other gain, that’s not hugely viable for me anymore, and just having “emotional” support (comments, likes, etc.) doesn’t help me fund my living.

I hope this makes sense to you, and I’m sorry if this isn’t the answer you’re looking for, but it’s the best I can give at this point! Thank you so much for reading and supporting my work, and I hope you have an awesome day.

"Dawn Rising" A real fun piece to do and I learned a lot from it. I was exploring a technique called Sfumato developed by Leonardo da Vinci. I didn't quite nail it but I still want to pursue it more.

Blakk Family Values - Dawn Rising

What was that?

At this hour of the morning, it was almost impressive to the old Pseudobane that he could coherently string the three words together. But it was for good reason.

Namely the bouncing ball of child that had managed to squeeze its way between him and the sleek body of the Outlander he seemed doomed to share his life with. Willingly, of course, but doomed nonetheless.

One eye cracked open when the movement didn't stop, faint red glow from such cast across pallid flesh. Groggy dart to the source of the disturbance gave him the shorter frame of his son, soon to be the eldest of the brood.

Xerxes.

"What do you want…" was grumbled out of the industrialist at the intrusive whelp, receiving nothing short of a scuttle out of the boy to sit at his elder's shoulders.

"You said I start learning the company today." There was a familiar tone in that young voice. Determined, ambitious… Of course, Thaddius would deny any accusation that it came from him, no matter how proud he actually felt about it.

"What time is it." More a demand than a question, still with a fog of grog on him.

"Uuuuh, five-thirty in the morning…”

One clawed hand reached up, fingers grasping the bridge of his nose carefully. It was accompanied by a string of expletives, muffled behind the palm of his hand, things no child of almost five years should ever have to hear. With the storm gone, composure regained, he relaxed again.

"Wake me up in an hour.”

The order was received with a shove to one shoulder. "You told me to wake you up early.”

"I didn't mean the crack of dawn. Will you … jump on your mother for once?”

The pout was verbal in the boy's voice at hearing his father's irritation. "I did it once and an ankle cracked…"

Oh, he could feel that nasty little smirk spreading across her face at that. He knew how delicate the woman's ankles were and that even a small noise like the grinding of the joints could frighten a small child into never doing it again. Yes, War was certainly a devious woman, and not beneath using such effects to turn the tides in her favor.

Xerxes had proceeded to keep the elder's attention by poking him in the shoulder now. "And I have a bad hi— You are an obnoxious whelp of a child, Xerxes Blakk."

He could feel that same grin spreading across the boy's face, the one his mother likely sported now. "But I'm your obnoxious whelp of a child."

It was here the 'slumbering' Outlander started to laugh under her breath, only confirming suspicions that she was anything but asleep the entire time. "He's got you zere…"

Faintly glowing gaze narrowed in her direction, lips thinned. "Shush, you. You're not helping in the least."

i remember how abruptly this ended, woops now with 99% more canon-accurate terms!

Hello there ^^ I recently stumbled upon Dawn Rising and found myself here after some backtracking. I'm sad to see that you have lost interest in the 19 Days fandom and I was wondering if Dawn Rising would stay on hiatus or just be dropped completely. I adore your writing D: it's a shame to see you go but I totally understand! Thank you!

i’ve thought about this a couple of times recently since your ask, and the honest answer is i’m not 100% sure, but that i’ve never had any intention of not completing it or otherwise abandoning it. if i’m invested in the fandom in any way, it will be to finish incomplete works or write new ones, but not necessarily keep track of recent updates/actively contribute to fandom discussion.

so! not dropped completely, but likewise i can’t give an estimate. i’m back into writing more lately (predominantly voltron), and when I feel comfortable enough i’d like to return to dawn rising too. :)
