Yes!

I am so excited for this weeklong break! We all need it due to the amount of work and stress has been put on our shoulders for the past month. From paying for a ton of shit stuff to dealing with visa and residence permits, I am glad to finally say all of these things has passed and have been settled. I have received my passport and I can officially travel around China. My friends are planning to go to some places, but I think I will just stay in Shanghai.

I have a trip coming up back to the US for a big conference and I need to take this time during the break to study the material I will miss during my 6 days away from China. I am very excited to be going back to the US because there are some things that I seriously need to buy. I could order them online, but I need some help to do that and I don’t really have the patience for that at this moment.  I head back from Oct 12 to the 17 and I will be in Houston (not in DC :( or PA) but I hope I have a great time. I need to print out my resume before I fly out so I can network and give out some resumes while I am there. 

Also, I am trying to buy a new bike and I was thinking of buying one online. I stopped a random guy at the dorm who had this beautiful orange bike (my favorite color) and he told me he got it off Taobao.com I need to get with the online shopping! Everything is in Chinese so its quite intimidating to shop online when I can’t read anything. When I shop online, I like to read everything before I consider placing an order...but I guess it will be a bit more difficult while i am here in China, but maybe I can get some assistance?

WEEKEND = SUCCESS

My weekend was awesome.

It all began Friday night when I went out with my new friends from all over the world to a night club named Mint. This night club is quite different from the many others because its very upscale and you have to be wearing formal clothes to enter (which makes sense). People get so pissed when they can’t enter, which sucks but at the same time, you have to understand why. These night clubs are trying to attract Chinese people to make money and they don’t want to let people in if they are not looking decent. 

As usual, the music is not so good. They play an EDM song and play the same beat and transition to the next song. Its an continuous cycle. Where is the hip hop? Where is the variety? Seriously?! These people seriously don’t know how to put together a dance club. If you want to attract foreigners, at least play decent music and music that we want to hear. I want to dance to good music. Fortunately, after they switched out the DJ, things became interesting, but only subpar. 

When we went, there was a theme this night called Easter Bunny. Easter Bunny in September? Pretty weird, but they had the club decorated nicely and many people were wearing Easter Bunny ears. It was pretty cute. I also danced on top near the DJ booth. It was nice because I actually had space to dance and many others joined us. Many people watch us from the crowd, but I was a little incoherent to care. I had a great time. I love to dance. 

On Saturday, we traveled to Tian Zi Fang to hit the shops and eat! I had a nice time. I bought a few things. It is a very expensive area, but beautiful. A bit far from campus, but worth the ride.

Damn...

I had a rough week 2 at school. With everything going at a fast pace, its hard to keep up. A classmate of mine wants a small group of us to start studying right after class for 30 minutes to an hour. Which is a lot (considering we have long hours of class just right before) but I think this will help me improve my Chinese. Also, so many people at school are sick and I caught something! I hate being sick and I am NEVER sick. This happens at the beginning of every school year. Someone brings something from their home and spreads it to everyone. Ugh. 

Also, I have been feeling quite sluggish these past few days and have been taking a lot of naps. I never take naps. I think honestly something is wrong with me partially because of the long class hours and how early I have to get up just to attend class. The last time I had to get up extra early for school was back in high school. Only about 3 years ago, but damn.
