Caban/Earthquake

Today is Maya day 7 Caban (N’oj in Aztec) and the last day of day signs since this series began on 1 Etznab. This day sign is associated with the forces of movement as grand as an earthquake or as personal as a beating heart. Caban is the day sign of motion that is irrepressible and so it is also associated with intelligence; N’oj literally means “thought.” Caban can be thought of as the day sign of the “thinker.” Caban days are especially good days to solve problems and find the creativity to complete any endeavor. Lamat  / Seed / Rabbit

Today is Maya day 11 Lamat (Q’anil in Aztec), and is an auspicious day for planting crops or negotiating business. This is a sign that represents reproduction and birth and is a very sensual sign. Lamat is rich with abundance and is synonymous with fertility. The glyph for Lamat is one of the principal symbols of spirituality to the Maya and is the basis of the altar used in their traditional fire ceremony. The cross represent the sacredness of the number four (elements, colors, seasons), the circles represent the four cycles of Venus and the polarity of contained within while the circle encasing it all represents time itself. Projects begun on a Lamat day will generally turn out favorably, and a Lamat period is known to be marked with celebration. It is a reminder that we are all connected to the abundance and joy of the world and not separate from it.

Lamat natives are generally very fortunate, intuitive, kind, generous and good-natured. They have gentle dispositions, are adaptable and assimilate easily.
