Character Development. Day 1
Leo don't remember much about his parents as he was usually in a war conceil room for over half of his known life. However, from what he does remember, his father was a noble man, however, he served the wrong king. He was sent to an impossible war, which untimely ended Leonhardt's father.

His mother was an at home Mother, however, the king took a 'great' liking to her. Even when she was wedded to Leonhardt's father. His mother, a female with tan skin, black hair, and ruby red eyes, was actually a citizen of Ylisse, hence his Ylssian accent. Leonhardt's mother was kidnapped by the kings guard, and never to be seen from again. Leonhardt was labeled an 'orphan' by the king himself. Even when his mother was right there. His mother was broken. Gone. Almost as if she was forced be that way.

Leonhardt was soon forced out of his home town by his own childhood friends, who ended up the same as his mother, hexed and dead. He ran away. He made his way across the sea.
In his Outrealm, Validar isn't his father (as his father is stated above) However, Validar adopts Leonhardt, whips his memory clean, and fills it with false ones. Where he is the perfect tactician. He was a noble kid, turned dark by the magic of Grima.
The reason why he was so easy to hex, wasn't because he didn't expect it, (Ok, maybe that's half the reason) but it was because he was crushed. His heart kept shattering over and over, thus causing to become a walking corpse almost. Validar took advantage of his broken heart, fixing it up with the blood of Grima. His mark is very real, as Grima was originally suppose to inherit the body when Leonhardt soul was still crushed from the recent events. Leonhardt came to before Grima could complete the ritual. In doing so, Leonhardt kept some of Grima's dark magic inside of him, hidden and locked until the final battle.Hence why in his Outrealm,Grima could take form of Leonhardt himself.
Once again, heart broken and crushed. He ran across the Ylssie borders and soon collapsed. His brain, registering that his heart strings were being snapped one by one,he would soon die if another event such as this would occur, he would day. Due to the Grace of the Divine Dragon Naga, she whiped his memories clean of everything,his soul renewed, and had sent someone to go get him, Lissa and Chrom.
So, was it all mere considence? To Leonhardt, still having no memories of his father or mother, or even his time at his home country, didn't matter to him. As he had made new family with the Sheperds of Ylssie, as he is the proud father of Morgan, and the proud uncle to Chrom's child/children.
